Spotted Venetia Stevenson on the TV in episode 7 of Widow's Bay. The movie Evan is watching with the girl he met is the 1960 British supernatural horror film The City of the Dead. Known as the Most Photogenic Girl in the World, she'd marry Don Everly of the Everly Brothers and retire from acting.

Oakland. Snapdragon Tamer. Night Gardener. I mostly post about gardens, animals and basketball (mute the 🏀 symbol if you don't care to hear about it). Sometimes cocktails, music, or history.
Kind of a BIG DEAL 🤑 Tonight we giveaway 750 Gary Payton bobbleheads from 33 Customs! - AND - EVERYONE gets Dinner on the Ballers! tickets.oaklandballers.com
Not sure how you can grant a time out without a player being in clear control of the ball 🙃🏀
Falling down and flopping are not the same thing, by definition. Flopping is a theatrical reaction with "intent to deceive". #WNBA🏀
It is 100% insane to me that there are democrats who support Trump's version of Title IX over Obama's (and Biden's). Like you disagree with everything Trumpy and rightwing, but agree with their take on women's access to sports.
For non-WNBA watchers: The Minnesota Lynx are coached by Cheryl, and they are playing the Indiana Fever. The Fever have a transphobe on their team that has attracted a traveling circus of bigots, first to Portland, and now to Minnesota. Cheryl is doing what the WNBA as a corporation refuses to do.

Cleaned the carpet with the machine. Now we are having Tacos Oscar.
Sitting on the sofa in the dining room after we moved it so I that could clean the carpet, and have discovered that the neighbors trimmed their trees in such a way that the neighbor beyond can now see directly into our house.

PSA for basketball watchers: the term "moving screen" is a misnomer, used by announcers who don't know better. Screeners are not required to remain completely stationary once they've established a legal guarding position: they can then firm up their stance, & both feet do not need to be "planted". 🏀
Absolutely no way to have made the Bay Bridge- the Golden State Valkyries' logo- a part of this Chase Freedom court. No shared design elements whatsoever. /s (bridge photos by me)
What bugs me the most is how little effort was put into this design. You couldn't do anything interesting with the "Chase Freedom Motif" or "Chase Freedom Gradient"? You couldn't integrate it with anything actually relevant to the Golden State Valkyries? Pure plastic tarp ass.

Oof. I don’t know why I never considered that an NBA or WNBA team might shove their own brand aside and sell their whole court as ad space, but I do not like or want this to be a thing that has legs. Will feature for 2 games for Golden State.
PSA: fouls and free throws are not the same thing. A player could foul five times in a game, giving away 0-15 FT. Wide variation. Refs may call the same amount of fouls on each team, but 1 team gets a lot more FTAs b/c of the type/timing. Disciplined teams don't foul 3 point shooters. 🏀
The more big money in your league, the more conservative it's going to swing. Once your good thing becomes a commodity, resource extractors are going to swoop, & they don't care about social issues. The time to fight back hard is now, or the #WNBA we know is going away.
Thornton gets a shoulder to the bladder and is called for the foul 🙃 🏀
... and PHX have been awarded 20 more free throws than the Valks on those fouls.🏀
Golden State average 19.5 fouls per game, and they've already been called for 25 in this game. Phoenix have been called for 16. 🏀

Golden State Valkyries Championship parade in The City *and* Oakland! Tip said it first! #GSV 🏀
I love this.
... or maybe the exploitative youth football system in your country that allows people to take advantage of poor people and men to prey on children isn't working out as well as you'd hoped. Not surprising you get footballers who are violent assholes this way. www.espn.com/soccer/story...

She loved her surgery cone for the first couple days (it made her feel powerful and intimidating) so we got her a courted ruff to look sinister in.
Did they overlook announcing the GM and coach of Team Coop? #WNBA🏀
Gotta love a WNBA article that foregrounds X numbskull's dumb crap, & then ends with the ungrammatical & preachy statement "Hopefully, the WNBA will move in a direction where the focus is more about the product on the floor than it is on politics and what goes on off of it." see also: The Athletic
None of my usual grotty streamz are showing WNBA All-Star Friday night, so I bought a day pass for SlingTV for 5 bucks. So far it's the only TV I've had to pay for over the past year, so: worth it.
This fuckin weirdo has never eaten a tomato in his life, has he?
Is Cafe Mason not open 24 hours any more? And RIP Sparky's.
San Francisco has only a handful of 24-hour restaurants.
