Well chuffed when this was amongst my mail on return from hols, already started reading it, full of superb info on where to find birds in Chris's stunning patch (Budle Bay) and when to find them. A quality book by a top birder! DM @budlebirder.bsky.social #BirdsofBudle #NEbirding to get your copy👍
Just wondering if anyone else feels Bluesky isn't taking off as well as they'd hoped? Absolutely love the way it works but a lot of folk I followed on X haven't moved over and I do miss their posts. I'm thinking of returning to X but improving my filters to remove right wing loons🤔
White Rumped Sandpiper at East Chevington this morning nice views compared to the Grindon Lough bird, also a better pi for my #2025piclist 😊 #NEbirding #UKbirding @ntbirdclub.bsky.social
Better pic of a Little Stint for my #2025piclist with the Hauxley bird, 1st saw it distantly at north end of the beach til flushed (3rd & 4th pics) had another try a couple of hours later by the 'totem' pole and luckily the tide had pushed it closer😊 #NEbirding #UKbirding @ntbirdclub.bsky.social
Nice Sparrowhawk at WWT Washington this morning 1st spotted by @briansmith46.bsky.social 🙄🤔😄 also 3 Greenshank, 1 Green Sandpiper, as well as the usual suspects #NEbirding #UKbirding @durhambirdclub.bsky.social

Few from several coastal trips lately, Great Skua, Fulmar, 5 of 8 Whimbrel and a Skua SP as I arrived, hadn't even got scope out! Thought maybe LT🤷♂️ but I've already had 1 this year so not too disappointing😊 #NEbirding #UKbirding @durhambirdclub.bsky.social
Wood Sandpiper, Barmston pond, Greenshank, WWT Washington + size comparison of both at Barmston pond, I think it'll be the same GS #NEbirding #UKbirding @durhambirdclub.bsky.social

My Daughter lends me this little tinker twice a week as I can't have a dog full time anymore ( wouldn't be fair on the pooch) She's a real tonic since I lost my 19 year old Daft Jack over 10 years ago, daft as a brush and cute as owt😂😍

Bittern from Saltholme last week was my 3rd different bird of the year, unfortunately it's also the 3rd one I've been too slow for! 😂🤣 #NEbirding #UKbirding @durhambirdclub.bsky.social
Juvenile? Bonxie almost sneaked past under my scope at Whitburn this PM, also had 2 Sooties, a few Manx, 1 Arctic Skua and 3 unidentifiable Skuas, due to distance, very enjoyable but missed the help of the experts!😖 #NEbirding #UKbirding @durhambirdclub.bsky.social
#250 Sooty Shearwater at Whitburn this afternoon these 2 plus a too distant possible 3rd aren't my 1st this year but they are the 1st I've managed a record shot for my #2025piclist #NEbirding #UKbirding @durhambirdclub.bsky.social
New scope from Viking Optics came today so couldn't resist a quick seawatch, 1st impressions are very good! My Hawke scope was carelessly damaged by me but when I sent it back under the no blame warranty they sent it back claiming the damage didn't affect performance, I know it does so beware!
My new scope has prevented me from seeing a decent number of birds today! It’s not being delivered till 1 or 2pm and I have to sign for it 🙁🙈😂🤣
#248 Long Tailed Skua past Whitburn Obs this morning, managed 3 pixels for my #2025piclist 😖 also seen quite a few Sooty S/W lately but not managed a pic and also a Great Shearwater a few days ago but no pic, thanks to the lads in the Obs for the help #NEbirding #UKbirding
Anyone got an ID for this gull at the Headland today, I thought it looked unusual but I'm useless with gulls😂 Juv YL🤷♂️? @sidwemn.bsky.social @whitburnbirds.bsky.social
#247 Black-winged Pratincole at East Chevington this morning, had to wait a while but chuffed to get it in the end & see some pals I've not seen for a while😊 Only downside is I've been left with severe camera envy😖😂🤣 #2025piclist #NEbirding #UKbirding @ntbirdclub.bsky.social
Think I was in a huff when I got back from France, hate comin home😖didn't bother going for the Night Heron after seeing so many in The Camargue, but seeing as it's hung around & things have been quiet I went for a look☺️ #NEbirding #UKbirding @ntbirdclub.bsky.social
It's been mostly common birds & poor butterfly conditions for me last week😖 won't be long tho🤞👌
This seal was having a 'whale' of a time on the surf board it found!😂
Distant Osprey at Waskerley reservoir this morning tried to get closer but after I'd travelled along the track which is a blind spot it had gone😖🤷♂️ #NEbirding #UKbirding @durhambirdclub.bsky.social
