Just came across this memory from four years ago. At Strategicon I came across an old Elfquest box, stuffed with Steve Perrin’s handwritten design notes on worn paper for a different RPG. It now resides in the Global RPG Vault aka @pookie-uk.bsky.social’s house awaiting further archival research. 🧐

This was an interesting read. It’s a different take on a storytelling horror game. I’m not sure how the random dice pulling from a bag will feel in play, but the Omen Dice are a cool mechanic for building a slow burn of dread. All in all, it seems built for a fun cinematic horror movie one shot.

My father-in-law: You can’t trust the Post Office with mail in ballots. They’ll change your vote, lose it, or toss it because they are a bunch of crooks. Also my father-in-law: Wanted to let you know I mailed that payment I owe you. Cash. Wrapped in tissue. In a nearly transparent white envelope.

Day 4: Charm The most charming GMs I know share one trait. It’s not that they’re the best storyteller, top improviser, or most confident. It’s simply that they’re genuinely excited to be there. They love the game, love seeing players surprise them, and that enthusiasm is contagious. #RPGaDAY2026

Day 3: Poise Poise is an odd word. It means many things, yet is less evocative than the words it emulates. It also sounds like a fantasy name. Poise, poised over a pit, prepared a Potion of Poise with perfect poise. “Prime poise!” proclaimed the potion professor, praising its poise. #RPGaDAY2026

Day 2: Stature My tired dyslexic brain read this evening’s prompt as “Statue.” I spent 15 minutes wondering which RPG personality deserved a monument before realizing the mistake. Maybe I should do these in the morning. #RPGaDAY2026

I was told not to read The Guide to Glorantha cover to cover, but to just open it at random and go. So today I learned Jungle Trolls (Muri) are immune to the Curse of Kin and are served by Midget Slashers…never expected “avoid a Leprechaun movie joke” to be my first challenge, but here we are. 🤦🏼‍♂️

I only got through about half of it last night, but so far this is shaping up to be the most finely crafted, immersive, and gameable supplement I’ve read since Berlin: The Wicked City, and it has me actually wanting to return to the traditional 1920s era. 🤘🏻😊

I await the arrival of the physical copy, but for now, the PDF will be tonight’s read. Time to curl up with it and dwell amidst wonder and glory forever…*croak*

I have nothing against the new Dark Sun announcement. Good for them for taking a new course of action. That said, the whole hardcore metal, explicit gore, 18+ sales pitch feels a little…um, forced, coming from WotC. 😅

Looking at a pic of the swarm out front of the GenCon Vendor Hall, I can’t unsee how it looks like a solar death ray has burst through and about to fry a rectangular pattern of people to ash. “There’s smoke, and there’s flames, those board game backpacks are not fire redtardant. Oh, the humanity!”

Have a great Gen Con, everyone! Stay hydrated, pace yourselves, and may your dice roll well. And if you’re checking out the vendor booths, juke, weave, and sweep the leg if necessary.😜

I came home from vacation to this incredible surprise package. The books are fantastic, but it’s the personal thoughts and shared memories from this loving hive of scum and villainy that matters most.❤️ Funny how pretending to be elves, detectives, and space weirdos results in lifelong friendships.😊

20 years ago, we said “I do” overlooking Moonstone Beach in Cambria. The sky was overcast, but no matter, she was shining brighter than any summer sun. Twenty years of adventures, raising a family, laughter, heartache, triumphs, struggles, and all the wonderfully ordinary days in between. ❤️

After two weeks on holiday without gaming, I have found myself enriched with increased productivity, more family time, regular outdoor activity, and enlightening conversations involving subjects other than TTRPGs. This is clearly some sort of bullshit. 😅

The kids begged to go to the Winchester Mystery House today, and while it was interesting, I was so road weary and zonked that I just took photos of all the circulation fans and the one toilet behind a rope barrier, because obviously at some point someone made a terrible decision.
