Things that go BOOM 💥 This was from an early afternoon pulse storm over Darwin Harbour a few years back. Shot without a #lightning trigger using just an ND filter and a whole bunch of shutter abuse 🤣 A little wider would have been nice, but oh well 🤷 Note the upward leaders off the water ⚡

I guess this is what they call branchy #lightning 🤷 Adelaide River, NT Australia ⚡ #weather #TopEnd #Australia
Probably should start using this platform again so here's a shot of some #lightning from an isolated thunderstorm tracking south of #Darwin harbour a few seasons back ⚡ #weather #Australia #TopEnd
Recent #lightning shot captured from Nightcliff foreshore in Darwin, Australia ⚡ Shot on Sony a7Cii + G Master 16-35mm @ 16mm f-13, ISO 200, 4 second exposure It made a big boom 🤣
The sun has risen over Invest #97S which is looking quite healthy, with lots of convection sustaining over an organizing center. Models are hinting that it could become a TC within the next 2 days, and ensembles are showing it could threaten #Australia Next Name = #Fina
Surging waves inundating our hotel during the approach of typhoon Fung-Wong recently. Significant storm surge damage occured up and down the coast of Aurora Province, Philippines and particularly our location in Dinadaiwan. Nasty storm 🌀
Meteorological spring has sprung down here in #Australia which means it's almost time to get back out there chasing down some whacky weather. Big plans to cover a bunch of the country this spring/summer starting with a stint over in QLD & NSW commencing mid month 🌩 #StormHour
One of my favourite non-tornadic storms from this past US chase season. I almost dropped off this guy an hour or so earlier after it looked fairly ordinary, but glad I stuck with it. Palo Pinto, TX #StormHour #txwx
Saw some impressively structured supercells out on the Mississippi delta yesterday, but none better than this guy over by Winchester, AR. The thing was lofting some ridiculous lightning as we pulled up too, but alas I managed to miss most out of frame 🤦♂️ #arwx #StormHour
#Tornado near Sikeston, Missouri a couple days ago. Onwards to todays shenanigans across Kansas.... Good luck to everyone and stay safe out there 🌪️ #wxtwitter #wxx #mowx #StormHour
Cloud to ground #lightning crashing into the eastern New Mexico landscape yesterday, this particular storm went on to leave behind some extreme hail accumulations near the town of Hope, NM #nmwx #StormHour
Some west Texas #lightning from back in 2024. Heading back over in a couple of weeks to find out what seaaon 2025 has in store. Bring it on! #txwx #tornadoalley2025
Only a few weeks left until we're on our way back to the United States for yet another severe #storm season. I'm not sure what to make of the seasonal outlooks, but I do know that you miss 100% of the storms you don't chase by staying home! So, bring it on 🌪🌪🌪 #TornadoAlley2025 #StormHour #USwx
Been a little quiet in terms of #storms across the NW #TopEnd over the past week or so, though we did see a weakish shelf cloud tracking in over the #Darwin area late this afternoon. A transition to westerly flow in the coming days may promote an increase in coastal storm activity 🌩️ #StormHour
Given a fairly loose CAP, we're seeing thunderstorms get up quite early today around #Darwin. This guy over near Shoal Bay was slinging a bunch of bolts around the joint at 11am! #TopEnd #Australia #drone #weather #StormHour
Shelf clouds have definitely been a thing lately up here in the #TopEnd 🤷♂️ All of these shot with the #drone from the comfort of our front patio over the past week or so 😎 #Darwin #Australia #lazychasing #StormHour
After a few days of drier air keeping a lid on things across the #TopEnd, storms returned to #Darwin this afternoon. A couple shots from the #drone, including a frame grab from the video of one of the many large clear-air #lightning bolts this storm produced ⚡️ #StormHour #auwx #Australia

I hear it's the first day of meteorological spring over there in the US, which means it's also time for us Aussie chasers to start thinking about making our annual pilgrimage to #TornadoAlley Looking forward to getting back out there, see y'all real soon 🌪🌪🌪 #TornadoAlley2025 #bringiton
With the setting sun illuminating the rain curtains, #Darwin city in the background looks dwarfed by this approaching storm earlier this evening. Moving forward, some drier air moving into the #TopEnd will likely keep storm activity muted for a few days now 😎 #AUWX #Australia #StormHour
Though probably not as spectacular as the examples of the past few days, the run of afternoon shelf clouds tracking in over the #Darwin area continued this evening. Little meaningful precipitation from this guy but pretty none the less 🌩️ #TopEnd #Australia #weather #StormHour
Yet another very pretty late afternoon #thunderstorm rolling over the #Darwin area earlier, probably for the 3rd or 4th day in a row now. These outflow-dominant storms are often a feature of the later stages of wet season here in the #TopEnd 🌩️ #Australia #auwx #ShelfCloud #StormHour
Another day, another guster rolling in over #Darwin. This particular example is being illuminated by vibrant sunset colour as it passes over Knuckey Lagoon. #TopEnd #Australia #ShelfCloud #StormHour
After another stinking hot day across the NW #TopEnd, the cooling outflow from these decaying inland #storms is always welcomed. In this particular instance, we saw an 8C drop in around 10 minutes. #Lightning storms are also currently ongoing to the SW of #Darwin ⚡️ #StormHour
