Today is my wife & I's 19th anniversary. We aren't ceremonial at all, so we had a normal day--no presents--but we did keep congratulating ourselves on having gone to marriage therapy in year 5--where we learned we did truly love each other--& then doing the work to grow & communicate better.
I've said this before, but: Elias is to Rubenstein as Wormtongue is to Théoden.
IT STARTED 8 YEARS AGO, DICKHEAD.
Mike Elias maintains that the Orioles have very good players, a strong farm system, and "a lot of things going for us." Elias noted this season and last has been disappointing, but said: "The future is strong, and I think it starts right now."
I have about 7-8 Orioles caps, and I put one on every single time I leave the house... have for years. Today when I went grocery shopping, I wore an old Nashville Predators cap. I didn't want to be seen in Orioles gear today.
I was wrong. Anger was my first stop and it feels like I'm going to be here a while.
Seems pretty clear they're going to trade Rogers. And I've gone from positive Adley was safe to really nervous in the last few days. If Adley goes... I will go straight to raw sadness. There will be time for anger, but sadness will be my first stop.
I didn't think they'd actually do it. I can't believe they did it. What a punch in the gut.
I'm... I'm pretty sure I would know it if I took a fastball to the face and it broke my face. I'm just saying.
I should clarify... if they trade Adley to an AL East competitor, I will probably go to angry before I get to sad. But I will still be sad while being angry. He's one of the most likeable athletes I've ever seen.

I know he had an error recently, but I still think Pete is Gold Glove worthy at first base this year. What a great signing. Just a perfect Oriole.
For the record, "Waiting out the starter and then letting them score a bunch of runs against us" is also a non-viable post-season strategy.
Not for nothing, but "waiting out the starting pitcher and then hammering the bullpen" is not a viable post-season strategy, especially when your team has a season-long history of failing to hammer the bullpen.

How do you not pinch hit for Leody there?! Does Albernaz have ANY power? Like... any whatsoever? Does he have ANY authority?! This fucking team is so infuriating with their lefty/righty gospel!
Great. Bases loaded with Leody coming up again. Someone get me a drink.
I wrote a new song. It goes like this: 🎵The Orioles suck at hitting the Orioles suck at hitting they also at other things but mostly suck at hitting🎵 If you like, when you cover this song, you can substitute the words "defense" or "baserunning" for the word "hitting," and the song still works.
Dang. Well, I guess that's what happens when your offense sucks.
Mayo doesn't look great in the lead-off spot, but... this pitcher is dominant and we only have one hit. So I'll hold off judgment on the Mayo-in-lead-off choice for now.
Gunnar, of all people. Good for you, buddy. Let's make that the beginning of a resurgenc.
How are there full clips of Spider-Man: Brand New Day on Instagram? I would love to avoid them, but they have flooded my "suggested for you" feed. Copyright still exists, yeah?
