So if they fire Winston and he withdraws his support, surely this close to the election the opposition would do a "We'll support you to continue under caretaker rules, but no more urgency you fuckers" rather than actually bringing down the government or are we still too FPP brained for that?
Well on the bright side maybe we'll have to hear less tales of people who are going to flee what's happening to New Zealand, the mythical island in there dreams where there is no racism, no bigotry and everything is perfect with a leader who gives a shit about ordinary people.
I get a little bit frustrated with the "we should ban AI datacentres" discourse. Not because I want them, buf because they're really not special as a category. If our planning stuff can't handle making sure industrial use handles externalities it's not fit for purpose.

People would mail smallpox scabs to their family elsewhere for variolation, an early form of vaccination. Variolation has been conclusively dated as far back as the 16th century, and may be older yet!
So apparently we've reached the point where Don Brash, Don Orewa Speach Brash, Don Too Racist for the National Party Brash says someone's racism has gone too far. What world are we living in.
Some say doing the same thing and expecting a different result is madness. But doing the same thing and expecting the same result of paying off your mates while claiming this time there will be a different result is the National Party way.

On the one hand I think ruling out working with anyone should be limited to the extreme "they're nazis and even if we could advance our agenda working with them the ends doesn't justify the means" cases and the gallery should stop even asking outside those cases.
My back of the envelope math says this migration will take around 25 days, so why am I fighting the same urge to check the progress every few hours?
I just have this idea that the government should probably be campaigning on the basis of what it's done, where as the opposition should campaign on what it would do differently. It's very werid to see the government campaigning on what it would do differently.
I do feel this is the whole thing. In some contexts, LLMs are useful tools when used by someone who can actually do the job. But they're never going to replace the people. But we're just expected to accept everything being a bit shitter so they can.

A very valid point and relevant to the nz context. I also maintain if you can't see and avoid a bloody great hunk of concrete you really should be considering if you're still safe to be driving at all

The complete YOLO nature of my work mixed with the mature and robust engineering practice that allows me to YOLO safely amuses me sometimes. Today I kicked off a migration affecting every customer, it will probably run for a few weeks before it's done.

I am once again begging politicians to her some kind of advice from people who understand things before talking about things. Apart from the general stupidity of banning vpns, they're used for so much more than watching Netflix in another country.
