This is an astounding loss for the US if it comes to fruition. One of the biggest strategic losses the US has ever endured—perhaps biggest?—and all from a war the US chose to start for no reason, illegally.
Nicholas Grossman@nicholasgrossman.bsky.social · 3h agoIran and Oman have reportedly agreed that all ships transiting Hormuz have to go through an Iran-controlled corridor, and are finalizing tolls of 3, 5, or 7%. This would close off the path outside Iranian waters the US encouraged ships to use during the MOU, then started bombing again to keep open.
This seems about as realistic as my plan to date Anne Hathaway. Not the current celebrity, the one that died in 1623.

The #Tigers getting hot after trading away their two best starting pitchers would be the most hilarious outcome to the dumpster fire that is the AL Central. This is also my preferred outcome, but it's also hilarious.
Man, I have been rereading "Wind in the Willows" over the last day or two, and I forgot how good this book is.
Flying is safer and cheaper. I like not having smoking sections. Yeah, food is better. Microbreweries all over the place means that beer is better. We live in a golden age of used books, man. Forty years ago, used bookstores didn't put their stuff online.

Really stunning that everyone was mad that he was neglecting his job to produce a taxpayer funded reality show, and now we find out that there was no reality show; he was just on vacation. I mean, this is egregious, but on the other hand, it's a pretty creative grift.

A bunch of people are going to make fun of him for being focused on this and not, say, the war in Iran, rising inflation, etc. But let's be honest: given the level of competence that he brings to, well, any problems at all, isn't it better that he's concentrating on pavers?

An interesting side effect of social media is that with enough reach, you can find people that think that a sufficiently idiotic opinion is fun and creative instead of what should happen, which is that they tell you that you are stupid.

It's pretty clear at this point that the media that went on and on about Biden's mental fitness - and doesn't mention this at all - has abdicated their responsibility not only to any journalistic ideals, but also to America.

A self-respecting Congress would impeach him over this immediately. Doing an end-run around the Senate's Constitutional "advise and consent" authority to illegally take money from taxpayers, and give it to himself and criminals he likes. Alone, one of the most impeachable offenses in US history.
