Good rule to build community in Open Source: ✅Don't compete with your own community. You lose by trying to replace your own collaborators/partners and reinvent their work. Instead, collaborate, grow the pie, accelerate and elevate others

After 18 months of work, Hands-On Generative AI with Transformers and Diffusion Models is published! This is one of my most challenging projects and I'm so proud and happy to see it out there Check it out! - Online in O'Reilly learning.oreilly.com/library/view... - Amazon amazon.com/Hands-Genera...
One of the gems of Gemini 2.0 is the release of a new SDK✨ - Automatic Python function support - Schemas provided as Pydantic models - Streaming - Count tokens - Modern generation practices - Unified experience between Developer API and Vertex googleapis.github.io/python-genai/
So how was my first week back at Google? - PaliGemma2 was openly released - DeepMind openly released GenCast weather forecast (in a GCP bucket 🙈) - Genie 2 🧞world model was announced This team ships 🔥🚀 Let's go!
🚀🚀PaliGemma 2 is our updated and improved PaliGemma release using the Gemma 2 models and providing new pre-trained checkpoints for the full cross product of {224px,448px,896px} resolutions and {3B,10B,28B} model sizes. 1/7
Exciting times ahead! I'm very excited to announce that I'm joining Google to work on the Gemini API, open models (Gemma and friends), Colab, AI Studio, and family! 🤗 Let's ship and go brrr 🔥🥳
This demo of structured data extraction running on an LLM that executes entirely in the browser (Chrome only for the moment since it uses WebGPU) is amazing My notes here: simonwillison.net/2024/Nov/29/...
Structured Generation w/ SmolLM2 running in browser & WebGPU
Extraordinary demo by Vaibhav Srivastav. Here's Hugging Face's [SmolLM2-1.7B-Instruct](https://huggingface.co/HuggingFaceTB/SmolLM2-1.7B-Instruct) running directly in a web browser (using WebGPU, so r...

To showcase how much you can do with just a 1.7B LLM, you pass free text, define a schema of parsing the text into a GitHub issue (title, description, categories, tags, etc) - Let MLC & XGrammar do the rest! That's it, the code is super readable, try it out today! 🤗 huggingface.co/spaces/reach...
TIL you can see which lists you belong to in bsky, and it seems I've been blocked by 150 people already due to my post yesterday 😪 I'll keep hoping for a collaborative and kind space where empathy rules rather than polarization and violence❤️ clearsky.app/osanseviero....

The (non-exhaustive) evolution of base models If you want to learn more about it and how to use these models, check out the freshly released book "Hands-On Generative AI", written with @pcuenq.hf.co @apolinario.bsky.social and Jonathan www.oreilly.com/library/view...
I'm disheartened by how toxic and violent some responses were here. There was a mistake, a quick follow up to mitigate and an apology. I worked with Daniel for years and is one of the persons most preoccupied with ethical implications of AI. Some replies are Reddit-toxic level. We need empathy.
I've removed the Bluesky data from the repo. While I wanted to support tool development for the platform, I recognize this approach violated principles of transparency and consent in data collection. I apologize for this mistake.
Hey ML folks! I'll be active here going forward. Who should I follow? 🦙
