On this day (6th August) in 1988, the Scala Cinema was showing Robocop (1987) and Now Way Out (1987) as a perplexing double bill. The only connection between them I can think of, is they were both released by Orion Pictures a month apart! Any other theories?

On this day (2nd August) in 1978, was showing Sven Klang’s Combo (1976). Well probably because the programme from the month doesn’t give specific dates and times, just says ‘See Daily Press For Details’. It was the Scala’s main new release for August so reasonable chance today was one of those days.
On this day (1st August) in 1987, the Scala Cinema was hosting the first Shock Around The Clock festival. Films shown in the daytime session were A Return to Salem’s Lot (1987), Salvation! (1987), American Gothic (1987), Hellraiser (1987) and The Stepfather (1987).
