Another vet visit this morning. Coming back, in the driveway I saw a monarch & a hummingbird! Went back and got a photo of the monarch. The hummingbird was gone so I photographed the plant it was on

In a tornado warning we go to the little square “hall” in the center of the house and shut all the doors. Keeping the dog in here is sometimes difficult but tonight she’s being very good

Another vet visit today. She has calcinosis cutis, literally excessive calcium buildup in the skin causing hard, painful lesions. Poor thing. The good news: it’s probably caused by the prednisone which they were already saying they wanted to start tapering her off.
A bit annoyed with Loop today. Put the image behind a warning and description of the annoyance in the alt tag (it’s legit about the image so I’m not abusing alt tags) so as not to spoil anyone

Tamale pie! It’s not the most photogenic thing I’ve ever made but dang is it good. It’s basically chili baked in the oven with cornbread on top. Like if you made chicken & dumplings out of chili and cornbread

We’ve been trying to avoid the dreaded cone and just watch her/redirect when she starts licking, but she manages to lick herself until she bled just now so the cone it is. Poor thing. Looks like we’ll be calling the vet back Monday morning

I’m making tamale pie for dinner! It has nothing to do with actual tamales. Usually I make an easy version but it’s the weekend so I’m doing a fancy version. Just finished prepping vegetables and meat, will start cooking after lunch!
