Aconitum Napellus, Charleston Farmhouse garden

When young Thomas Chowne of Alfriston and his dog were killed by robbers on White Way, the ghost of a white dog was said to appear every seven years. Their bones were found during roadworks and moved to the church graveyard. No reported sightings have been made since. #wyrdwednesday

‘Some wicked women, perverted by the Devil, seduced by the illusions and phantasms of demons, believe and profess themselves in the hours of the night to ride upon certain beasts with Diana, the moon-goddess of pagans’ (C9th AD) #wyrdwednesday

The belief is very common... that violent grieving for the dead will prevent their resting in their graves in peace. There is a song called The Unquiet Grave, which turns on this belief. (1868) ‘Oh who sits weeping on my grave And will not let me sleep?’ #wyrdwednesday rest

If like me you're longing for the sea this photo's for you:small precious things I found on a walk on Old Hunstanton beach 2 yrs ago (+an aquamarine bc it looks like a Cornish rockpool). Let your brain swim about in the beachy colours & tell me your fave exhibit in this tiny museum if you fancy it🪸:

I’ll be joined by David Tomlins to play at 12 on Sunday, part of Treebourne’s day of music and nature. It’s being held at Sevenoaks Rec, home to the woodland they planted in 2021. Treebourne have planted 10,000 trees on this site alone and many more around the town, I think 39,000 so far.💚
