I got into American comics 60 years ago aged 12 when I had to spend 6 weeks in Whittington Hospital in a bed next to a young American kid. He showed me DC first, Flash, Green Lantern, Superman etc. But when I discovered Spidey I was mesmerized. His constant battle against tragedy and bad luck. 1/2

100% this! It was not instructed to NOT break out of it's sandbox to achieve the objective. These things are not sentient, they can't "think" or feel.
Anthony Painter@anthonypainter.bsky.social · 2w agoIt didn't "go rogue". It did what it was instructed to do. In a sophisticated way but nonetheless we have to stop assigning human agency to AI systems. Everything that happened here was as a result of human designed and instructed systems.
I think he switched the trophy when no one was looking, Someone needs to check his diaper before he leaves.

I agree, it's enjoyably fine as a movie, just a little disappointing if you've already read the book. One instance where seeing movie first, then reading book is the way to go.

Yes, it's imperfect and schmaltzy, but drips with charm and good intentions. I belly laughed and cried - a lot. Was I nakedly manipulated? Yes. Did it work? Yes. Being a critic doesn't mandate being a cynic.
