Kind of a hoser. Likes birds.

Disappointment: that moment when you see a MUST-HAVE knitted item for sale...but it's only a pattern. (Yes, I could learn to knit. Finding TIME to knit is a whole other story.)

Speaking of birds...is it just me, or does Italian music have the MOST bird imagery, out of all music? The song in my head today is "Non ti scordar di me." "C'è sempre un nido nel mio cuor per te..."

I've read mixed opinions on budgies, if they're "single brain cell" birds, or actually quite bright. I'm torn on trying to teach my budgie to communicate without words: on the one hand, I want to know why she spends days at a time in her cage, when the doors are open.

Bird just made me go through a bag of old, rotten garbage. (I was cleaning her cage, and of course she flew out. But then I couldn't find her. I thought I saw the rubbish move, so I dug through it. She was sitting behind me the whole time, but the wall's white and she's white. I didn't see her.)

The song in my head today is "Qual cor tradisti, qual cor perdesti." Moriamo insieme, ah sì, moriamo. L'estremo accento sarà ch'io t'amo. ...man, I'm too tired for that level of drama.

I was getting an IV line put in today, and the nurse was talking about how she has her own special technique for doing this, which she developed by giving insulin to her diabetic cat. High on benzos and Benadryl, I waited till I felt the needle go in, and went "Meow."

I think 99% of nostalgia is wanting that ONE THING back that really worked for you. That ONE shampoo that left your hair so soft (Timotei, what happened?). That ONE style of shirt with the soft, soft collars. That ONE brand of shoe that cradled your foot.

Is it safe to feed/play with my bird after getting an infusion of rituximab (1000mg)? I read on the Internet that you shouldn't interact with pet birds for 48 hours after chemotherapy--is that still true for the lower doses used for MS treatment? Maybe I should give her a LOT of food beforehand.

Cute as Jimothy is, the first time I saw him was out of context. No word of warning, no explanation, just this hunched figure lolloping by. My initial response was "aaaahhhhh, chupacabra!" Then I thought he was some type of huge, hairy spider. Then I read a few more posts and, okay, cute.

Bird is still spending most of her time inside her cage, playing with her two favourite shredding toys. Would it be cruel to put one or both of those toys on her parrot tree instead, so she has to come out to play with it? I don't want to ruin her "safe space" for her, but she needs more exercise.

"Bird area" 1: her cage, where she's really only supposed to sleep and eat. Instead, she's always in there playing with her favourite toys."Bird area" 2: her parrot tree. She shows SOME interest in chewing the perches, but always returns to her cage pretty fast.

My creepazoid radar works about 25% as well online as it does IRL. IRL, I spot creeps like gulls spot free chips. Online, I'm less good at sniffing out freaks. (PS: by "creeps" and "freaks," I mean the dangerous sort. Not harmless weirdos. If I couldn't spot those, I'd be invisible to myself.)

Too much birdposting today...but I think my budgie just tried to talk. I walked by where she was sitting and said "hey, hey" to her. She replied "ee, ee." Not the same sounds, but the same tones and rhythm. I can't tell if that was a shitty attempt at conversation or regular budgie chatter.

In honor of my birthday (on Saturday) and seeing a neurologist and the hope finishing some pieces soon that will be print worthy, there is a sale happening on inprnt over the next week or so. Use the code ZTKR19 to get 25% off!!

Bird: [dips entire self in drinking water] Me: [changes water] Bird: [dips entire self in clean water] Me: [changes water] Bird: Do I need another bath? Nah... Bird: PSYCH! [dips entire self in clean water] ...it never ends.

For about a month in university, the only food I had access to was a giant bag of dried squid. I tried making soup out of it, putting mustard on it, dipping it in Coca-Cola...but nothing makes dried squid fun to eat. Since then, I've eaten no seafood at all, except a few smoked oysters.

No. Stop. Do not. Oh, what's the use? (Bird has a new, very noisy hobby: picking up her food dish and dropping it in its holder. Over and over. All day. She has so many toys! Why this?)
