I want to be charitable to the XIV team because a lot of the changes for Evercold were long coming. ...but both raid themes feel like huge break glass in case of emergency moments.

If that half-time show has shown me anything is that I can't blame Geoff for making a circus out of TGAs, american audiences are the issue. That was horrible.

Stop expecting capitalism to have your best interests in mind. Physical media is not a solution for preservation. Piracy is not a lost sale if the providers aren't putting the thing for sale in the first place. The only way we can stop losing culture is by reproducing it and distributing it.

As the director of a historical video game preservation institution, and someone who has dedicated his entire adult life to this cause, this is accurate. We have attempted to work with the industry's trade organization to find a legal path forward, but they refuse to offer a meaningful alternative.

piracy is the only extant form of media preservation that exists in games right now, you might find it morally reprehensible but there is literally no other institution that will keep games alive in 25, 50 years' time

Going to give a fresh boost to something on YouTube that I feel deserves as many eyes on as possible. A passion project of just a handful of peeps doing their own short ep anime series of what if dungeon exploration were televised in a fantasy setting with early 20th century moving picture tech.
