“Stringfoot” is a painful condition that pigeons are vulnerable to - bits of string or hair wrap around their toes, forming a tourniquet that tightens as the foot swells. They can lose toes or the whole limb. When it’s embedded like this, a warm H2O+epsom soak can minimize pain or bleeding. ❤️

Part 1 — a too-common occurrence. Pigeons are used for racing & other “sports” & kept in stressful conditions - but when they get hurt or sick they’re dumped & abandoned like trash. These loyal, gentle souls deserve better. They didn’t ask to be part of anyone’s “hobby”. #flyyourowndamnrace

She was chased by a predator, & in a dash for safety, hit a window. We took her to the vet with a bloody beak & ruined eye. As she heals, she is quiet & friendly - shy, adjusting to sight loss, but doing well! We call her Claudette - a glamorous old Hollywood name for a gentle, hesitating beauty.
