I have a great deal of sympathy for people who look at modern witchcraft online and think: “Um… am I supposed to know all of this already?” No. You are allowed to be a beginner. Nobody gets handed the secret witch manual on the way in. 😂 waywardwitchery.com/ask-a-witch/...

One of the questions I hear from people beginning to explore witchcraft is: “Where on earth do I start?” The answer is usually considerably less dramatic than the internet would have you believe. Start with curiosity. 🕯️ Then learn. 💫

October has a peculiar effect on people. Suddenly everyone is interested in witches, magick, mysterious forests and things that go bump in the night. Meanwhile, the witches I know are mostly wondering whether they can get away with wearing pyjamas all day. 😂

One of the great luxuries of being an adult is discovering that you can simply decide: “Nope. I don't like this.” You don't necessarily need a five-page justification. Sometimes your internal committee has reached a unanimous decision. Meeting adjourned. 😂

I've noticed that some things become clearer when I stop trying to explain them. Sometimes the words arrive once I've stopped searching. Apparently my brain prefers to work on important things in the background while I get on with something unrelated. I suppose it knows what it's doing. 😂

I sometimes think we put far too much pressure on ourselves to know what we're doing. There are entire stages of life where “I'm not entirely sure yet” is probably the most honest answer available. That's not failure. It's information. ✨

I've learnt that there is a considerable difference between being available and being permanently accessible. I can care about people deeply without being available every minute of every day. In fact, I think that's probably one of the reasons I'm actually useful when I am available. 🌙

There's something oddly satisfying about finishing a conversation, and realising: “I don't need to do anything about that right now.” Not every thought needs an immediate response. Sometimes it can simply sit there until tomorrow. ✨

I've become rather fond of the moments when absolutely nothing is happening. No message to answer. No problem to solve. No information to absorb. Just a cup of tea and the strange realisation that the world appears to be continuing without my supervision. Very suspicious. 😂

One of the things I like about cats is their complete refusal to pretend they have somewhere else they need to be. They eat. They sleep. They investigate suspicious noises. They stare at walls. They occasionally commit string-related crimes. Perhaps they're onto something. 😂

One of the less glamorous parts of doing this work is what happens between clients. Sometimes I go outside for a few minutes. Sometimes I play the piano. There is always a quick energy cleanse of my office. And there is tea. 🫖 Always tea. 😂

I've noticed that some of the most useful things I've learnt about myself weren't dramatic revelations. They were tiny moments of: “Oh. I do that.” 🕵️ Followed by: “Huh.” 🙃 And eventually: “Perhaps I don't have to do that anymore.” 💡 Personal growth can be surprisingly quiet. 💜💫

Some conversations don't really end when the conversation ends. Sometimes you need a little quiet afterwards. A walk. A cup of tea. A completely unrelated conversation. Or ten minutes staring into space while your brain puts its furniture back where it belongs. 😂

I'm the witch behind the desk. 🌙 The desk contains crystals, Tarot decks, a pendulum, far too much tea, and quite often a cat. 🐾 If you'd like a little food for thought, useful witchy things and occasional news from the Cauldron, do come and join us. 💜

There's a strange freedom in realising that not every problem needs to be solved by you. Sometimes you can help. Sometimes you can listen. Sometimes you can point someone towards a useful resource. Sometimes the kindest thing you can do is recognise that this particular thing isn't yours to carry.

I've become rather fond of the idea that rest doesn't have to be productive. You don't have to meditate. You don't have to journal. You don't have to turn it into a healing exercise. Sometimes you can just sit there like an undercharged human and do absolutely nothing useful. 🙃 It's allowed. 😂

I don't know what my cats think I do all day. I suspect they believe my primary occupation is: 1. Opening doors. 2. Providing food. 3. Sitting in the wrong place. 4. Failing to understand their urgent communications. It's possible they have a point. 😂 #Caturday

I quite like people who are willing to say: “I don't know.” Not dramatically. Not as a philosophical statement. Just because they genuinely don't know. There's something oddly reassuring about someone who doesn't feel compelled to fill every silence with an answer. 💜

There are some conversations that don't really end when the conversation ends. You can say goodbye, close the laptop, and carry on with your day – while some part of your brain is still quietly turning everything over. Brains are weird little things. 😂

When I first learnt Tarot, I thought I had to find the correct meaning for each card. Then I realised Tarot isn't a multiple-choice test. The real shift was asking not "What does this card mean?" but "What is it saying here?" I explored this in my latest video waywardwitchery.com/tarot-multip...

Tarot Isn’t a Multiple Choice Test: Looking Beyond Card Meanings - Wayward Witchery

Explore why Tarot isn't a multiple choice test, and how looking beyond fixed card meanings can reveal deeper insight through symbolism, context and connection.

One of the less glamorous realities of being self-employed is that sometimes the most productive thing you can do is stop. Rest isn't always something you earn after you've finished everything. Sometimes it's the thing that allows you to keep going without becoming a complete menace to yourself. 😂

Happy Mabon to those in the Northern Hemisphere, and happy Ostara to those in the Southern Hemisphere. Different seasons, landscapes and traditions - but I rather like the reminder that we're all experiencing the turning of the same world. 🍂🌸 May your season bring whatever you're ready to meet. 💜

I'm increasingly convinced that cats don't actually walk around the house. They move between locations by teleportation. One moment there's nobody in the room. The next moment there's a cat staring at me as though I've been summoned. 😂

I've been thinking about how much easier it is to do something kind when nobody knows you've done it. No praise. No applause. No social media post about how lovely you are. Just the quiet satisfaction of knowing you helped someone. It's an interesting little ego check. 💜

I've stopped apologising for having boundaries. They protect my work, my personal life, and the people I'm actually trying to help. Without healthy boundaries, I'd eventually be no use to anybody. Including myself. That's not selfishness. That's maintenance. ✨

One of my favourite things about having a life that doesn't always go according to plan is discovering that flexibility is a skill. Sometimes the sensible thing is to change course. Sometimes it's to stop altogether. And sometimes it's simply to say, "Well, that wasn't what I expected." 😂

There are times when I look at my cats and become convinced they have a soundtrack. Sometimes it's Mission: Impossible. Sometimes it's Run to the Hills. And occasionally, when the situation calls for maximum drama, probably Wagner. 😂

There's a difference between being difficult to convince and being unwilling to listen. I think healthy scepticism leaves the door open. It says, "I'm not convinced yet. Show me what you've got." That's a much more interesting place to be than either blind belief or automatic dismissal. 🧐
