As my #visualnovel reaches its first anniversary, I decided to work on an (overdue) update: a relationship status check screen! Blinking means you can make progress on their route, faded means their route is locked. #visualnoveldev #renpy (Not live yet, but soon™️!)

am I just done making VNs now 🥲 RenPy used gen AI to help make the engine (percentage unknown, but the creator says it was not "vibe coded" and I believe him). It feels like no amount of human effort I put into any RenPy project is going to matter. The harm Copilot-eqsue models do is too extreme.

look all I'm saying is plenty of indie devs will boast that their (often free) games have no AI and if you're mad about AI, maybe give an indie dev a comment to make their day btw did you know I made a visual novel and that it is pinned in my profile

If you are commissioning an artist, and want a specific pose, don't run to genAI to try and make it for you. Draw a stick person. Stick person poses are beloved among all artists. We can see exactly what you want. Do not fear sending the stick person. The stick person is magical.
