Have been using the iOS version of @parachord.bsky.social and it’s really amazing being able to actually listen and interact with my lastfm recommendations. The website always kinda sucked for listening in comparison, especially needing to listen via Spotify or YouTube embeds.
Parachord
@parachord.bsky.social
Multi-source music player. Given metadata about a song, album, or playlist, Parachord finds the best available source for you and just plays it.
I've opened up more alpha slots for the mobile apps. Android: Open to anyone 1. join the Parachord-Testers group (groups.google.com/g/parachord-...) 2. opt in to testing first, then the Play listing (play.google.com/store/apps/d...) iOS: First come/first in 1. testflight.apple.com/join/zXvg5zxK
I'm opening up a small numbner alpha invites for the iOS app. Currently looking for Apple Music and/or Spotify subscribers interested in helping report issues... there will plenty. testflight.apple.com/join/zXvg5zxK

Pushed a small desktop app update that improved the Critical Darlings infra along with some rendering performance improvements.
I've moved Critical Darlings from being a hack to more of a first-class Achordion citizen. Looking for something to listen to that human music critics are excited about? achordion.xyz/explore/crit...

Ah, the old nugget of "how we keep the app playing and seamlessly transitioning between different playback engines when the app is in the background" is back on iOS. Luckily we've solved this once before. 🔨
Also a new Android build today, with a lot of the same underlying sync work. It's been a bear, and I'm not totally convinced it's all correct yet - so all opt-in changes after you preview what changes the new N-way sync engine would make. github.com/Parachord/pa...

On the journey to build the Parachord iOS app I took a pretty big sidequest to try and properly conquer cross-service/cross-device playlist syncing. It hasn't been fun tbh. parachord.com/blog/2026/06...
Almost Sunk on Sync | Parachord Blog
After a long history of promises, last week I basically got the Parachord iOS app to feature parity with the Android and desktop apps. Multi-servcie content ...

Well, I put it off long enough but it's time to invest in a real N-way multi-primary sync engine that can keep playlists updated across multiple services. I think it should be able to power cross-service collaborative playlists too.
Getting dangerously close to being 1.0 feature complete on Parachord's iOS app.
Tried to make it more obvious that those were streaming links in the flyout. The more people scrobble to ListenBrainz and the more @para.chord users, the more external links that show up. Because your music community should be bigger than your music service silo.
This week I've been adding a lot of plumbing to ensure Achordion makes multiple best efforts to find/display as many different streaming service links as we can find.
The bad news is that the iOS work is taking a bit longer than I had expected, but the good news is that it is helping me improve all of the other platforms along the way.

The reason that 20 years of listening history can live within Achordion is because you can import your entire listening histories from both Spotify and Last.fm (via ListenBrainz).
Worked on a new feature today and educated myself that I've been scrobbling listening data for 20 years now. Happy anniversary to me.
