If an order is granted by the court, the landlord can transfer the tenancy to the victim, allowing them to remain in, or return to, their home. Domestic abuse is the leading cause of homelessness in women. It leaves women the dreadful choice of becoming homeless or continuing to live in the same home as their abuser, especially where there are children involved.
