A clarification concerning The Cage, St Osyth Following the recent documentary released by the owners of 14 Colchester Road last week, we feel it is necessary to correct some inaccuracies concerning our research and the historical evidence.

Following the publication of Beyond Point Pleasant: The Mothman in Essex, we're sharing a piece of material from our research at Little Braxted. Recorded during a visit in December 2025, this possible EVP is another intriguing element of our ongoing enquiries into the reports from this area.
Temple Cressing Barns, World's oldest recorded timber framed barns, built in the 13th Century for the Knights Templar, the location being one of their Home Farms.
A most unexpected discovery during this afternoon's field trip out to a local village. Sometimes, whilst undertaking research out in the wilds, something entirely unexpected captures your attention.
This afternoon we visited the pop-up @essexwitchmuseum.bsky.social at Chelmsford Shire Hall. We've put together a small montage of a selection of photographs from our visit. Thank you to everyone involved in bringing this exhibition to Chelmsford.
In Part Two of our 2013 Ghost Box evaluation sessions, we share another recording and explain why we eventually discontinued the sessions. The recordings raise interesting questions but, what do they actually demonstrate? Listen and decide for yourself. paranormalreason.com/a-demonstrat...
Back in 2013, we experimented with the P-SB7 Ghost Box, investigating for ourselves whether the apparent responses were simply fragments of radio broadcasts or something more. We're revisiting the recordings. What do you hear? Read the supporting article here: paranormalreason.com/a-demonstrat...
The Three Bridges Poltergeist, 1945 This photograph appeared in Picture Post on 22 December 1945, documenting Harry Price's investigation into alleged poltergeist activity in Three Bridges, West Sussex. 12-year-old Alan Rhodes was tied to his bed while the investigators waited outside.
MEDIUM CAUGHT HOLDING TRUMPET — PSYCHIC NEWS, 7 NOVEMBER 1992 (ISSUE 3152) The Scole Experiment is often held up as one of the finest examples of research into life after death. Yet one episode from its early history undoubtedly raises uncomfortable questions.
Borley Church: The Bull Family Graves This photograph, taken in October 2007, at Borley Church, Essex, shows the graves of four members of the Bull family, closely associated with the history of Borley Rectory. Laura can be seen in the background, taking additional photographs. #Borley
In 2015, a visit to Orford Castle in Suffolk led us to an unexpected discovery. Whilst we were in the Well Room, Laura appeared to be drawn up the stairs and through the entrance hall, before stopping at a garderobe concealed within a side passage.
If witness accounts are to be believed, Maldon's Moot Hall is undoubtedly England's Most Haunted building. Formally the brick Tower of the wooden Mansion of Sir Robert D'arcy (1391 - 1448).
The Mermaid Inn, Rye, East Sussex. Here's a very rare photograph of me (some do say much rarer than a ghost itself), sat on the bathroom floor in the Kingsmill Suite (Room 17), the room with the Rocking Horse and Chair. You can read our account at: paranormalreason.com/the-mermaid-...
14th Century Bodiam Castle, E. Sussex, complete with its own set of alleged hauntings, including a Red Lady, who gazes from one of the round towers and, a drowned Victorian boy, Bodiam, is yet another location where Laura wasn't really able to connect.
Have you ever found a Hag Stone in the wild? Not waiting to be found on a beach or in a ploughed field, to be brought into service, but one actively protecting a gateway, from an evil unknown?
Colchester Castle, Essex. Although sitting quietly in a municipal park these days, the land upon which the surviving castle keep sits has been used for many purposes, even before the castle itself was built. Here you can see Laura, peering in through the bars of the surviving Prison Cell fittings.
Since when does a public park hold many thousand of years history, including events of international importance? When it's Greenwich Park of course. Here Laura is inspecting a tree that we were directed to by our host.
The Theatre Royal in Margate, Kent, was a location of interest for us both, even before we met, so perhaps it was fate when we had the opportunity to join an organised event at the Theatre, one cold winter evening.
Corfe Castle, Dorset, an impressive feature on the Dorset landscape, even now, when in ruin. Another location where Laura wasn't able to tune into the location.
Although it's never been central to our research so far, the location of the original 1626 Fort at Landguard Point, Felixstowe in Suffolk, in relation to the 1717 / 1744 Forts, to us at least, remains an enigma. Below are the four main sources for the locations:
Hadleigh Castle (the one in Essex, not Suffolk. You can go to the Suffolk one if you want, but there's no castle there, promise!) Oft a popular destination for would be ghost hunters in these part, looking for the famous white lady no doubt.
Dobbs' Grave, Nr Ipswich, Suffolk. This is a roadside grave of John Dobbs, who hanged himself at nearby Kesgrave Hall Farm in 1740. He was buried, with a stake through his heart, as was custom for suicides back then, at the local crossroads, where his ghost is still said to watch over the grave.
St Mary's Church, Clophill, Bedfordshire. Notorious due to alleged rituals being conducted there in the 1960/70s, it also has a history of hauntings too. Here's an account of a Policeman, who spent a night there in the deserted church, due to lead thefts, in the early 1950s
Mistley Towers, Manningtree, Suffolk. A well know Suffolk landmark and, allegedly haunted, although we suspect this is more to do with an association through geography to young Matthew Hopkins, the 17th Witchfinder General, more than anything else.
No ghosts, but a sunny day, an old castle, a very rich lady and, some found treasure....
It's important to remember that not every location provides something interesting for the researcher. Here is the famous sign that greets you as you enter Chislehurt Caves, South East London. A place with a long history and, more that its' fair share of stories and associated folklore.
The stepping stones at Ogmore Castle, although now situated adjacent to the ruins of the castle itself, they were originally located a quarter of a mile or so downstream.
'The Warminster Thing', as reported in the Daily Mirror, Friday, 10th September 1965 A little more "show and tell" from the archive. This is the Daily Mirror of 10th September 1965, reporting on what had become known locally as 'The Warminster Thing'.
Just for a change, a little piece of publishing history from our archive. Whilst going through some of our older material, we came across these two original illustrations used for discussing the legend of the Nun & Phantom Coach & Horse, published in the June 1955c issue of East Anglian Magazine.
An unpublished photograph from our files. This photo was taken during our first visit to Hellfire Caves, Buckinghamshire, in 2007. At the time, it seemed like little more than a routine reference photograph. Looking back, it's fair to say It became part of a much bigger story.
