Microsoft's digital crimes unit said it would pursue security researchers who "irresponsibly" disclose 0day. But it's simple: Redmond can't dictate what researchers do with bugs. If you can't entice hackers to disclose bugs via your preferred channels, that's a you problem! (aka skill issue)

Editing today's Risky Bulletin script and this one hit me right in the guts. Hand on heart, I hope something bad happens to this guy inside every day he's there

I think it’s possible to be sympathetic to the idea that the wealthy should pay more tax and still think the government’s CGT policy is really bad. Instead of sector-specific carveouts and complicated indexation calculations, why not just reduce the CGT discount by 10-15%? This is just bad policy

“The new tax we’re introducing that will kill the startup ecosystem and cause capital flight won’t raise much money” is not the argument you think it is

The latest budget has shown just how little Australians understand the tax system. So many people beclowning themselves. The removal of CGT discount and negative gearing on resi is good policy. The rest of it isn’t. There’s a reason CGT rates are lower than income rates. CGT rate is 20% in China!

Really enjoyed the time with James at Risky Business. Between his James Kettle interview and mine: the models we have today can already do remarkable work; if you take the time to codify your expertise into scaffolding. And what that looks like with IronCurtain, and on what businesses need to do.

If listening to Niels Provos talk to my colleague @jameswilson.io for 90 minutes about orchestrating older LLMs to find 0day as effectively as Mythos can sounds like a good time to you, boy do I have some great news… VIDEO: youtu.be/ksWbjE9uQyk AUDIO: risky.biz/RBFEATURES19/

I'm sure we could've gone for 3 hours... but Niels and I reigned ourselves in after 90 minutes of talking through exactly how lesser models can find 0day all day... if you know how to orchestrate them in a way that turns your techniques into their state machines.

My town is going to be in the news today for a pretty shitty reason. A marine rescue went sideways, three dead including two rescue volunteers. Really sucks. 💔

It’s funny but Twitter being owned by SpaceX now might actually make it good again… it’s preparing for an IPO and the last thing SpaceX needs is regulatory problems from X being a 4chan clone

The rhetoric in Australia on fuel security is completely braindead. Sure, we closed our refineries over the years because they were inefficient, but we’re currently the second biggest LNG exporter in the world. We can trade gas for liquid fuels. We have leverage! Calm down!

I recorded a podcast with Rob Joyce (fmr NSA) and Andy Boyd (fmr CIA) yesterday about the impact of AI on the state of offence... published it into the Risky Business Features channel just now... to subscribe, search for Risky Business Features in your podcatcher!
