3 pretty good movies, and one terrible one. #letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched

I am going to be obsessing over the 39 CD Bob Dylan 1976 live recordings release for months.

Better late then never? #lastfourwatched #letterboxdfriday

Shortcomings is one of the most overlooked movies of the past few years. Watch it and embrace what a POS Ben is. Truly one of contemporary cinema's most relatable characters. #letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched

Last night I dreamt that Bob Dylan released a full-album cover of the Who's Tommy, arranged like the Shadow Kingdom and with spoken word interludes between the songs. It was a beautiful dream.

One of the benefits of the Odyssey coming out this summer, is it made me re-watch O Brother, Where Art Thou? Nolan's adaptation is well-made, but incredibly straightforward. The Coen's took chances, made something interesting, and also nailed the music. #letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched

I don't have anything to add to the Odyssey discourse other than I made it through without having to use the bathroom, which I wasn't able to do with Oppenheimer. #letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched

Another week, another #letterboxdfriday. Started making my way through the Pasolini 101 box set with Mamma Roma. #lastfourwatched

Red Beard is Kurosawa's best movie, and the only movie I have cried watching every time I've seen it. #letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched

Season 4 is the best season of Arrested Development.

Very disappointed in the 80s Postman Always Rings Twice. Loved the Laurie Anderson needle drop in Fallen Angels. #letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched

I always feel like I need to watch the biopics of people I am interested in, but then I inevitably end up hating the movies. Surprised by how much I liked F1 and Sukeban Deka the Movie though. #letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched

Third time watching the Dark Crystal, first time liking it. #letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched

Any of my fellow former or current call centre workers, if you have not discovered @patrickallaby.bsky.social yet ...this book is SO true. Thank you @philmoscovitch.bsky.social for bringing his work to our attention, as this old lady would not have found it otherwise.

It's Friday where I live, so here's my #lastfourwatched for #letterboxdfriday.

Saw the Mandalorian & Grogu, and thought it was pretty solid. Going to try and go again soon. Also, I loved the Love That Remains. #letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched

I spoke to the @halifaxexaminer.ca this week about my work: www.halifaxexaminer.ca/morning-file...

Spending the night before MCAF trying to get through my massive backlog of movies watched, but not yet logged. #letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched

I'm in Montreal for MCAF - FBDM this weekend. Very touched to have been interviewed by @truenorthcomics.bsky.social about my latest book, Ontario & Back, which is debuting this weekend.

Toronto/Montreal/Moncton/Saint John folks! I've got a bunch of fairs and markets coming up in the next couple months! Come say hi!

I am releasing a new book, Ontario & Back, next month. This is a book I've been working on since 2019 and I'm really excited for it to enter the world. If you'd like a copy (and to help me cover the printing costs), you can pre-order a copy at patrickallaby.com.

reading Great Expectations and I keep thinking to myself "this is so Dickensian!"

Went to the movies tonight to see Sirat, and they only had French subtitles. Two-thirds of the theatre left. They missed out. #letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched

Nearly gave Dead Man's Wire 4 stars. Room With a View is great, Spinal Tap 2 has like 2 good jokes in it, and walks up to a really darkly funny ending and then avoids it at the last second. Weird. Wanda made me want to make a movie. #letterboxdFriday #lastfourwatched

Rewatched Russell's Women in Love for the first time since 2020. Incredible movie. Great adaptation. One adaptation that's not worth your time is "Wuthering Heights." Even if you consider it on its own, without thinking of the source material, it's incredibly bad. #letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched

really loving Bowie's version of Lust for Life from 1996 lately.
