I watched the Netflix The Three Body Problem when it came out and enjoyed it. The past couple weeks I read all ~1500 pages of the book trilogy ahead of the next season coming out. I really liked the books. Didn't see where it was all headed.

People that walk their dog off -leash where they're not supposed to are the fucking worst. If that's you, well, sorry, but it's true. One of my dogs has been attacked by off-leash dogs more than once and really doesn't like being charged, even if your dog is well behaved. Super inconsiderate.

Saw a local news story about the police department in next town over announcing trick or treat times for this Halloween. Bold of the police to try to tell people when they can celebrate a holiday. Pretty sure that's not in their purview.

I never read any of the books that The Expanse was based on but I absolutely love the series. Not actually a big scifi reader besides all the Vonnegut and Adams I read in my youth. I got the first book in the newer series by the authors of the Expanse books, The Mercy of Gods, delivered on Monday.

Some people have face blindness. I do, but just for Orlando Bloom. Couldn't tell you how many times I've looked up the cast list of whatever I'm watching to figure out that a dude is... Orlando Bloom.

Today is the first day of my 11 day work vacation. On Saturday Courtney and I are attending Floatzilla on the Mississippi River in the quad cities. Hundreds of people kayaking together on the river. On Sunday we're heading to Minneapolis for four nights and bringing the dogs.

The big todo in my town today is that a new gas station/truck stop has their first day open today. The gas at this company's stations is typically the cheapest around. It's like 30 or 40 cents cheaper than any other station in town. I'll take it. Gotta get excited about small things in a small town.

Our wedding anniversary is mid-August and we decided to go away for a few days somewhere within driving distance. We settled on visiting the twin cities. We've never been. Booked a dog-friendly hotel room so we can bring the pups. If anyone has any dog-friendly recommendations I'm all ears!

The broadcast channel my wife likes to watch is out of the quad cities so we see a lot of Iowa political ads. I didn't really have an opinion on Rob Sand before but this attack ad makes him v relatable to me.

Goldfish was spayed yesterday so we're just laying on the couch together taking it easy. We got her a cute recovery suit. I told her I know it's rough (ruff), but it's for the best and I have an appointment to get myself fixed in September, so it's not just something we do to dogs.

I bought a used bike last week. I already own a 1973 Schwinn Suburban that I love but it's so old and heavy that it's not the easiest bike to ride. This one is nothing fancy. It's a 2014(?) Raleigh Venture 3.0 that's just a lot easier to ride.

Apple TVs recommendations are broken or something. I've had it for over a year and it just today made me aware of Sugar, a Colin Farrell neo noir detective show that couldn't be more up my alley.
