My weekly meditation is up. I love that the gospels tell us again and again that Jesus looked upon the crowds and felt compassion for them. That detail about Him has informed and defined so much of my approach to ministry. It is in this weeks gospel reading, and it made it into the title as well.

Every year I continue to learn new ways of seeing His compassion at work in myself & in our world. Every year His compassion becomes more miraculous. There are even moments where I am invited to be a conduit for the compassion of Christ. A Lectionary Meditation for our 18th Week of Ordinary Time 👇

Pope Leo XIV says that the Catholic Church’s teaching on sexual ethics must be less prioritized over “greater, more important issues.” “We tend to think that when the Church is talking about morality, that the only issue of morality is sexual. “There are much greater, more important issues.“

I'm sure those obsessed with fresh/raw fruit, veg & milk have no idea that in the middle ages we rarely ate these uncooked. They drank (weak) beer because they learned people didn't get sick & die like when they drank water. Same with produce. Modern science & medicine has given us fresh salads.

Did you know that the Divine Office hymn for the Feast of Mary Magdalene (Jluy 22) is "No Scrubs" by TLC? That's probably why so many men have historically taken issue with her that she did not deserve. They out there just making stuff up. Scrub behavior IMO.
