Its been a few months since I've done any star trails. Went down last night to the abandoned Oregon Inlet Life Saving Station on the OBX. While passing lights from cars and a dredging barge didn't make things easy, I'm pretty happy with the result.

Last night's Milky Way behind the Bodie Island Lighthouse on the Outer Banks (click to see full picture).
Another shot from my recent outing to the abandoned Coast Guard Life Saving Station on Pea Island on the OBX (one shot, with the station conveniently lit up by a passing southbound car coming over the Basnight Bridge).
It's been too long since I stayed up late for some Milky Way photography. The mosquitos were out in force, but my visit to the abandoned Coast Guard Lifesaving Station near Oregon Inlet on the OBX was worth it.
Hard to beat fishing at the Kitty Hawk Pier on a beautiful morning.
As nice as this morning's sunrise was, tonight's sunset in Duck, NC was just amazing.
I don't usually do sunrises (too damn early for me), but got up early today and headed to Kitty Hawk Pier. I was not disappointed. Still seeing a little of the effect of Erin, although the seas have calmed quite a bit.
It's National Lighthouse Day, so I'm reposting my favorite of Currituck Light from last year.
Sunset this evening in Corolla, NC. Didn't seem like it was going to be much, but caught fire a few minutes after the sun went down.
I took this shot of the Aurora Borealis in January, outside Fairbanks, when it was -20F. As much as I don't like the heat and humidity we are having in Duck, NC these days, it beats -20F.
The stars came out to play last night at the old, abandoned Oregon Inlet Life Saving Station.
The Milky Way rising above the Bodie Island Lighthouse last night. Took shots to do a stack with Starry Landscape Stacker, but the new non-destructive Denoise feature in Lightroom did a better job of it. Going to have to get out there again and do another test run. #EastCoastKin #Photography.
Looked like we were going to have a pretty nice sunset, at least until the rains came about an hour before sunset. So, here we go.
