Woodworker, computer programmer, photographer & Anglo/Francophone. Anti-Brexit. Live in Luxembourg but a citizen of the benighted United Kingdom! A bit of a radical socialist with green leanings.

I'm generally happy to give someone like Burnham a bit of time to get things in order but I'm already pretty impatient for an explanation why an octogenarian holding a small protest placard gets a criminal record but 200 people dressed as paramilitaries blockading Dover can just get the train home.

On Wednesday morning I take to the road in a hired van for the journey back to the UK; my homeland. I'm absolutely dreading it. I have done a long drive of any sort since 2015 and I found it terrible strain back then!

ICE isn't enforcing immigration laws. They're waging a campaign of state-sponsored terror designed to break communities, traumatize families, and give fragile, insecure men a badge to hide their cruelty.

Am I the only person who believes that this is a completely manufactured row. It is not as if these prisoners would stay in jail indefinitely if they weren't granted early release. They would be released later, OK, but they would eventually be released! www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Burnham gets the early prison release changes he wanted - but at what cost?

The prime minister says he will keep hundreds more criminals behind bars but doing so requires complex changes.

IT WAS NEVER THE IMMGRANTS IN SMALL BOATS The world is 700% richer than in 1970 but the average person is only 8% richer Because the richest 0.01% are 4000% richer We are all being robbed every second of every day, and it doesn't matter how much profit or growth there is It will never reach you

I lived in Thailand for years & I was surprised how few Thai houses & other buildings had solar panels despite there being a solar panel merchant in the town where I lived. Given the torrid climate there, it would seem an ideal place to benefit from solar based power generation & hot water.

Thailand plans to shift away from imported gas and embrace renewables and nuclear power as it seeks to build an energy system that’s less vulnerable to external shocks like the Iran war

This an absolute disgrace! My childhood was paid for by NHS dentistry. My father was the CEO of the Dental Estimates Board - the government organization set up at the inception of the NHS, to process claims for payment by NHS dentists. They used to moan back then... www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

How easy is it to find an NHS dentist? It depends on where you live

Nearly 600 practices in England have withdrawn from NHS dentistry over the last 10 years, as the service heads towards a two-tier system.

Hmmm - this is interesting! I had an MRI scan of the prostate about six years ago and it came back with a PIRADS score of 4 (PIRADS 4: clinically significant cancer is likely to be present). This was followed by a biopsy in which found 2 samples out 20 were found to contain adenocarcinoma cells.

I was recently on a train between Paris & Toulouse. The train was delayed for hours on a baking hot day & I think the rolling stock had been replaced as the carriages were ancient. During part of the journey the train was swaying alarmingly & I thought it might derail. www.bbc.com/news/article...

Train track defect found before Lewes derailment, report says

Initial findings from an RAIB investigation show an "irregularity" at the site near Lewes.

I am trying to move house something that involves making loads of phone calls to official bodies. Many such bodies are effectively impossible to reach by phone. You simply get the usual Press 1 to speak to A; press 2 to speak to B then finally you get some awful music but they never actually answer.
