Ochre Sea Stars feeding on mussels at Ecola State Park in Oregon. The centerpiece of the image is a huge Ochre Sea Start wrapped partially around a large mussel that has goo - scientific term - pouring out of it onto the sea star. It's early morning in the Ridgefield NWR, and a great blue hero is stalking the marsh for breakfast. The heron is about 1/3 or the way up from the bottom of the frame and just left of center.
