Great news for families across Erdington, Kingstanding, Castle Vale and South Oscott – under-16s travel FREE on local buses in August. Whether you're heading to the park, museum, cinema or a day out, Labour's Great British Summer Savings is making summer more affordable.

New powers must mean new opportunities for every corner of Erdington, Kingstanding, Castle Vale and South Oscott.

My Reflection on Andy Burnham's Speech on Social Care - Paulette Hamilton MP - Paulette Hamilton
I have always said I am health through and through. I live it, breathe it and walk it every day. For 25 years, I had the privilege of serving as an NHS nurse. I saw first-hand the difference compassio...

This is truly heartbreaking. Another life has been lost in a tragic crash on a road where speeds were reduced to help prevent tragedies like this. More still needs to be done. My thoughts are with his family & friends at this incredibly difficult time. www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/midland...

Delighted to host @sainsburys.bsky.social parliamentary showcase earlier this month, discussing how we can make healthier choices and affordable, nutritious food more accessible to everyone. It was a valuable opportunity to explore the power of partnership in delivering. #GoodFoodForAll
One of the best parts of my role is catching up with residents, hearing what matters most to them, and taking forward any casework that needs attention. Thank you again to everyone who came along.
Great to meet residents in South Oscott this morning and hear what matters most to them. From bin and potholes to speeding, we had some important conversations. I'm also pleased so many backed my campaign to toughen the law on exempt accommodation. Thanks for coming along!
For years, they said cheaper travel couldn’t be done. Labour is proving otherwise. From Jan 2027, a £2 bus fare cap, fully funded by reprioritised spending, will help families across Erdington, Kingstanding, Castle Vale & South Oscott with the cost of living.
This morning, I visited Conker Island with the local Friends group, New Heights, the Council and our Pride in Place Chair to show The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government why Pride in Place funding is so important for communities like Kingstanding and... 1\2
It was wonderful to attend Witton Lakes & Lakeside Children's Centre's Wyrley Festival of Fun at and see so many local families enjoying a fantastic afternoon together. Events like these help children play, learn and thrive. Thank you to everyone who made it so special!
I joined Road to Change & Birmingham Children's Trust at the opening of the Garden of Remembrance in Pype Hayes Park. This garden offers a place to remember loved ones, reflect & stand together in the hope of preventing future tragedies. Thank you to all who made this possible.

It was a pleasure to meet the wonderful volunteers of Friends of Brookvale Park. When I lived in Stockland Green, I enjoyed walks around the lake with my children, so I know how much this green space means to local families. Groups like these play a vital role in our community.
It was also great to catch up with Birmingham Hospice at the Community Fun Day. The invaluable support they provide to people at the end of their lives, and to their families, is truly incredible. They have our utmost gratitude.
Great to meet the team at Witton Lakes and Lakeside Children's & Family Learning Centre and hear about their Family Hubs. Tomorrow, they're hosting the Wyrley Festival of Fun from 3pm–6pm at the Children's Centre. It sounds like a fantastic afternoon for local families!
Wonderful to join Stockland Green’s D1C1 Community Fun Day on Saturday – a great day of sports, inflatables, food and fun for all. I’ll be sharing some of the fantastic people and organisations I met over the week. Great to see Sam and Courtney back doing what they love most!

Football should unite, not fuel political division. Some Argentine players’ behaviour was simply wrong. The World Cup may not be ours, but the Falkland Islands are British. They chose Britain, remain British and will stay British. 🇬🇧
Also at @commonshealth.bsky.social, I asked Baroness Amos about the @appgblackhealth.bsky.social's recommendation for cultural competency training. The Govt did not take it forward at the time. Given the failures in maternity care now identified, this vital recommendation must be reconsidered.
At @commonshealth.bsky.social, we examined Baroness Valerie Amos’s review of NHS maternity services in England. I asked about Dr Bill Kirkup’s resignation, following claims that the report was changed days before publication to remove criticism of a “normal birth drive”.
Absolutely gutted, but what a journey it has been. England gave everything and reached the World Cup semi-finals with passion, determination and pride. Thank you to the players, staff and supporters who stood behind the Three Lions every step of the way. Heads held high. 🏴
Great to join the 2026 @APPG on Local Government Summer Reception. A chance to celebrate local leaders delivering essential services, promoting inclusive growth and tackling complex challenges.
Chaired another excellent Black Health APPG session on cardiovascular disease and the urgent need to tackle health inequalities. These vital discussions aim to improve outcomes for underserved and high-risk communities disproportionately affected by CVD.
Joined the Cyprus Parliamentary Event yesterday for an update from Cyprus’ Foreign Minister on the Cyprus issue, regional security and UK–Cyprus coordination following attacks on RAF Akrotiri. It was also great to catch up with the President of Erdington’s Greek Centre.
The tragic circumstances surrounding Ann Widdecombe’s death have brought security concerns back into the spotlight. Parliament provides a range of safety measures, but public life can still bring disagreement, and, at times, real cause for concern.
Tomorrow, @commonshealth.bsky.social publishes its report on Fixing the Food Environment. Our Committee looks forward to working with the Minister and Government to back the changes needed to help people live healthier lives.
