Ed has been a force at DESNZ and has left a political legacy that will last for decades. Fascinated to see what he can now get done at FCDO and looking forward to working with him. And very excited to be working with Miatta at DESNZ at an unbelievably important time for climate and energy.

🧵 LCEF is pleased to welcome new Secretary of State for Energy and Net Zero @miattafahnbulleh.bsky.social into her role. Miatta has been a long standing supporter of LCEF and we look forward to working with her at an extremely exciting time for climate and energy.

Some great findings in our new report very relevant for an incoming Government. Labour are already doing some great things on air quality but are failing to tell a compelling narrative and are often leaving councillors who are doing the right thing exposed at the local level.

📣 NEW LCEF REPORT + POLLING LAUNCH📣 Our new report, Breathe Easy, shows how Labour can build a strong political offer on clean air, based on polling commissioned from @goodgrowthfdn.bsky.social.

Upfront investment for several times the savings by 2030; some good ideas here from @mcortonscott.bsky.social on what Burnham could do in his first 100 days as PM. (From this morning's very interesting @arguablymag.bsky.social )

Great to see another *mega* month of EV sales, making up 30% of all new cars in June & 1/4 for H1 2026. According to @newautomotive.org, this means that the car industry is now ahead of the minimum sales share needed to hit this year's ZEV mandate target. www.thetimes.com/business/com...

UK electric vehicle sales hit record levels

Dealers say the milestone was reached thanks to the soaring cost of petrol, the increasing breadth of models and competition on price

Great to host a @lcefuk.bsky.social roundtable with Centre for American Progress and labour MPs discussing climate issues shared in the US and UK. Thanks to Becky Gittens for hosting. One of the takeaway messages? Social media trad wives are doing some great messaging on environmental standards.

Im gonna call it: step aside Punchdrunk, #LCAW 26 is the best immersive theatre experience Ive ever been to. A city-wide interatcitive display showing the direct impacts of climate change on an unprepared economy. Well done organisers.

Great to see champions like Fleur showcasing the climate & environmental leadership that labour have shown at local, regional, and national level. Tomorrow's vote on CB7 is vital to ensure we keep up this ambition, stick to our net zero trajectory and tackle extreme heat events (like this one).

In the second video of our London Climate Action Week series, LCEF met with @fleuranderson.bsky.social to talk about the how climate policy in the UK is having positive impacts on her high street and on the Thames river that flows through her constituency.

Some excellent overnight analysis from Steve here looking at some of the underlying trends under the topline figures. We all benefit from him having no life and being able to do stuff like this.

What happened in Makerfield? Some new constituency polling between @persuasionuk.bsky.social & Convergent (most accurate pollster in the race!), covering among other things: - Burnham assembling a coalition Lab needs nationally - 'Get Starmer out' + 'public ownership' at the centre of it. 🧵👇

Watering down the ZEV mandate would be completely at odds with the leadership this Govt has shown on energy security & climate change, & its focus on lowering household living costs. The Govt has made a clear case for electrification to tackle these issues; EVs must be at the heart of its approach.
