This is absolutely true. Almost every seminal RPG everyone loves is structured exactly like a shonen battle manga. In many cases they fed back into each other. You can go through the heavy hitters on the PS1 and see it so clearly once you've read enough jump shit. bsky.app/profile/frog...

no matter how much beautiful painstaking pixel art and famous composers u snag there are no western indie devs making a JRPG Chrono Trigger-like who can couple it with a decent story bc they dont understand classic JRPG stories are just Shonen Jump. Not even being funny, jrpgs are literally jump

my take of the day is that all fiction, no matter how down to earth and realistic and etc etc, is to some extent allegorical and if you can't grasp that the things that are happening are not literally happening, but rather happening so you feel or think something, you shouldn't even be discussing it
