It’s #indieanimationday! We are Pelea Animation, an #indiestudio creating our debut film of the same name, “Pelea.” The story takes place in Vivencia, a fictional South American country based on 1960’s & 70’s 🇨🇴🇻🇪🇪🇨. The film talks about real issues of imperialism with #steampunk elements.
First up, these two backgrounds I painted for @peleaanimation.bsky.social. I had the job of painting a lush Colombian jungle scene and the destruction of that same jungle for oil drilling. I was out of my comfort zone for the latter because of the heavy machinery and the oil drills-

Without an end to the armed conflict that drove them away from home, they can’t return to their territories. The Emberá dream is to be able to go home. Until they are able to return to their territories, they deserve just and dignified living conditions in the cities they seek refuge in.
The Reality for people living in La Rioja: ⛰️Overflowing sewage ⛰️Dangerous cooking conditions (over 80 gas tanks) ⛰️Outbreaks of TB, gastric, and intestinal diseases ⛰️Children exposed to contaminated water ⛰️26 children have died since 2024 in UPI La Rioja
This is artwork I made for Humanconet’s campaign for the displaced Emberá people seeking refuge in Bogotá. Just 2 km from the Colombian Presidential Palace, over 1,800 Emberá people, displaced by armed conflict, are living in dangerously overcrowded conditions meant for only 450 inhabitants.
