Good morning Bluesky! Waking to the sound of a slow, cool, steady rain. Rare and wonderful. It makes the start of August feel hopeful. The fever of drought is breaking; living things can begin to grow and thrive again. The spell is broken.

A soft and dreamy good night from my garden.

Grasses are flowering plants. These are the flowers of Big Bluestem, a grass which dominated parts of native North American prairies. It grows up to 7ft tall. The seed heads break into three parts resembling a turkey foot, which is how it gets its nickname of ‘turkeyfoot.’ Andropogon gerardii

The daylilies of July are making their last stand before the flowers of August take their place. This pretty lady in ruffles is a miniature but holds her own among the big guys.
