Kris gets smacked in the face with the pillow. With a growl, they just toss it onto their bed. “Gee I don’t know maybe because I hate you!?” “You’re going to find nothing.”

"If there is nothing here I could want, why are you so adamant I leave?" Oh Kris, you shouldn't have shown concern for the bed. Mecha picks up the pillow, shaking some dust from it before throwing it at them. "I will decide if there is anything worth taking."

He did not get out. He did not move. If it wasn't for the glowing red eye moving to the side to stare at Kris, one could assume the robot inactive. Until he spoke, at least. "Defect. We meet again."

The door opens. Kris flicks on the bedroom light. They see their nightstand and lamp knocked onto the floor. Then they see Mecha Sonic sitting right on their brother’s bed. Kris briefly looked shocked before their face twisted into rage. “Why the fuck are you in here?!” “Get out!”

Made the defect swear. Mission complete.

Ah- damn. Too late to be extra petty now. At least the robot knows who to expect. Hm. No closet. Bed too short. What kind of bedroom was this!? 💢 Lights off, and the machine is just going to sit on the other bed, on the successful side of the room.

Kris was walking up the steps when they heard something get knocked over in their room. “???” They moved quicker up the stairs. “Mom??” Kris unwittingly revealing it’s them.

Time to tip the dresser over to empty it faster. No sense wasting time. Oops. Oh well, gonna be a bad day for whoever just got home.

Well there is a table stand/dresser thing with their clothes, a lamp, empty shelves above the bed and an empty birdcage in a wagon at the end of the bed. Oh there is the sound of the house’s front door opening and closing.

Well, clearly only one of these belongs to the defect. And it's not hard to guess which is most likely. So it's time to start moving around the bare side of the room to find anything of interest.

Interestingly, there are two beds in the room. One on each side of the room. One side of the room also seemed to have many things and awards while the other side is almost completely empty. Meanwhile Kris is on their way home after their little unwilling town walk.

Poor Kris likely also has no idea the machine is rummaging about in their room, either. Hopefully there's nothing they need to keep hidden there.

Just for that, Mecha circles back to redirect the flow at Kris. "Filthy mouths require cleaning."

Almost two weeks since acquiring the first Chaos Emerald, and the machine has been still for nearly all of it. The remaining monitors have scrolled map after map as the few orbital drones they still operate scan the world below. Six Emeralds remain to be found. And they will be found.

Kris was hunched over by a birdcage in a wagon when they had the worst timing of turning around when the lightning flashed. They fell backwards into the birdcage wagon being spooked by Mecha. Oh they wanted to yell at this robot but no way are they alerting their mom. Middle finger it is.

The machine is standing outside @stuckinchap1.bsky.social's window in the dark, illuminated for only a second by a flash of lightning in the storm.

"Leaving so soon? You will miss the show..." Holding the Chaos Emerald up, a soft clicking emanated from his forearm. One Tempo may recognize as a ratcheting hammer being prepared. Fingers unfolded to better encapsulate the gemstone... With a sound like breaking glass and a wave of red power -
