Beast of Reincarnation is perhaps the first game from a large-ish studio that I can confidently call a post-Deltarune work. That said studio is Game Freak is not remotely surprising. There’s a particular scene right before the final chapter that had my jaw on the floor with how on-the-nose it was.

So, I started playing Beast of Reincarnation and I think I kinda love it? Something about the languid cutscene pacing that feels bad because it's actually closer to how socially stunted people try to talk to each other IRL is endearing, even though I know exactly why most people find it offputting.

...This is perhaps the most surreal one-two punch I've ever been on the receiving end of. Thanks, Chiitan.

I feel like I make a post like this every pride, but I've been stuck in this place where I just don't see any upside to being asexual and wish almost every day that I could be anything else. Aside from Deltarune, I think the thing I might actually be the most excited about from that Nintendo Direct is Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen. I still think about the ending of DD2 constantly. Legitimately one of the most impactful endings to a game I have ever experienced.

This is a very funny question for me because Transliterated takes place in a Xenofiction setting where humanity doesn't exist, and neither do many of its social constructs. Most living there have no concept of gender, and sexuality operates on entirely alien axes compared to human norms. 1/3

I buy out as many local restaurants that serve breakfast as I can. In each of them, I install a functional replica of the Breakfast Machine from Peewee's Big Adventure. I have no opinion on the 4th time Nintendo has remade the first Star Fox game other than the fact that I do genuinely like the character designs. As a weirdo who thinks about non-human ergonomics a lot, the fact that Falco's entire outfit is visibly altered from standard to fit his avian body rules.

I hate how abstract my intrusive thoughts are. “You have to wash your hands six times or someone will die” seems so much simpler to confront than “you are a fake person with no defined traits and every interaction with others is a constructed lie. Apologize for existing and then go away forever.”

James is not kidding. Someone on Twitter put together a clip compilation and Kenshiro's actor sounds like someone doing a parody of bad old anime dubs. I am SPEECHLESS. I am DUMBFOUNDED. He can't even do the fight noises right! Also no one can pronounce "Hokuto."

It’s Trans Day of Visibility again, meaning I’m forced to ponder what exactly it would mean for me to be “visible.” When most of my identity is “empty,” how am I expected to express it? You can’t prove a negative. The only way for me to be visible is to actively declare myself, but I’m not sure how.

I know this isn’t the case at all, but Peakychu in Pokopia reads as Former Human to me. It’s the combo of the little ear tug tic she has that looks like someone playing with their hair and the fact that she walks around on two legs at all times when normal pikachu are quadrupedal.

So, I ended up watching both seasons of Netflix's live action One Piece adaptation, and I have four big takeaways: 1) I find slapstick way funnier with real actors. 2) If actors are having fun playing their characters, I'll have fun watching them. 3) This show is just tokusatsu and that rules.

I recently discovered that being depressed and anxious has a serious effect on the tone and quality of my writing, and that writing angsty, depressing shit is not cathartic on its own. I somehow managed to negative feedback loop myself by expressing my emotions and now I’m not sure how to pull back.

worth remembering, David Lynch directed “fix your hearts or die” specifically at transphobes. it wasn’t a generic “no mean people allowed” statement, it was said by his Twin Peaks character in defense of a trans woman he cared for and deeply respected.

Pokémon Pokopia is somehow one of the most species affirming games I’ve ever played because you’re repeatedly asked the question “are you actually human?” and are allowed to truthfully answer “no” and have that encouraged and reaffirmed by everyone you meet. Weird how that works.
