There’s more and more BBC radio stuff that you can’t listen back to internationally and I must say, I don’t love it. I’m, of course, as a non-resident Brit, not going to (indeed can’t) pay a TV licence, but being able to get the radio has always been a lifeline for native Brits living abroad.

To raise your hands and go ‘my bad, you’re right and I’m wrong’ after six hundred people tell you you’re wrong with various grades of social aptitude is something that should be encouraged, not further criticised. The block button’s there for ppl who need it, but yeah, take the win, maybe.

Apologies: I’m not online much, I haven't paid any attention to Rod Liddle for a long time, I didn't really know his extremes. I do now: I wouldn’t have posted if I'd known. I’ve seen death of difficult people up close (and its impact on others): that’s the only reason it was on my mind as an issue.

I mean, everyone always knew it, but the idea that the conservatives’ racism ended at the point of islamaphobia and anti blackness was always laughable. This guy is as antisemitic as people come.

Even I am taken aback at the new and surprising ways these people find to insult the public’s intelligence and make it more clear the only operative professional standard in force is “LOL fuck you”

Doing some transcription for the first time in yonks. First baby steps here into Larry Goldings’ solo over ‘United’ by Wayne Shorter (written when he was a kid in Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers). Quite a quick tempo but not bananas.

I’d hate to be such a hipster that I couldn’t enjoy My Dinner with Andre. I think the real genius of it is that they NEVER really make it easy to know whether you’re with him or not, and Wallace Shawn personifies that tension so well.

This Film often has the piss taken out of it for being a rather sedentary piece about 2 people just talking a lot — BUT — it has one of the most brilliantly prescient monologues in the history of Movies imho. MY DINNER WITH ANDRE (1981) Have a listen.

I must say, it’s very brave of people to come out publicly and say they admired Rod Liddle *because* he wrote stuff that was upsetting. Nice to know that we’re SO BBC-Balanced that we think a voice standing up for the virtues of paedophilia is not only necessary but actually noble.
