When we get control of Congress, we need a blanket fine imposed for each non-answer, taken out of a deposit that they have to put up when they enter the room. We can eliminate the national debt in a matter of months with witnesses like this.

Mitch McConnell has me thinking about the story of Snow White. There, the wicked queen is so jealous of other beauties that she tries to have her own stepdaughter murdered. Now, Mitch wasn’t particularly good looking but was undeniably a good strategist.

What is ANY Republican candidate going to say when asked what they will do to force the administration to comply with the Epstein Transparency Act???? How effectively can they run for reelection if they have to skip any situation where they might be asked? I think a blue wave is coming.

So, after his speech, he released a bunch of documents proving his case, right? Funny how even FOX isn’t touting them as obvious proof of his assertions. Not even FOX. Perhaps they didn’t like paying that defamation settlement.

Something weird is going on. I selected the Mitch McConnell news choice here on Bluesky, and 10 out of the first 11 posts seemed SOLELY about Platner.

Should trillionaires exist? If not, democracy needs different tax policies and there is plenty of money available for social policies to benefit almost everyone. Also, given only society has made trillionaires possible, society should feel no compunction about disempowering them through democracy.

I love that Mamdani is making NYC such a happy, safe place. The more hinterland people that visit and learn to love it, the better our country will be. When hinterland people realize that diversity isn’t scary and threatening, the Republicans grip will weaken greatly.

We really want beauty to be a stand-in for virtue, but it’s not. Virtue cannot be distinguished at all glance; it is perceived through deeper understanding. It takes “works” rather than “faith”. True beauty needs no makeup, you behold it when you perceive the virtue within.

Won’t it be nice when they’re all gone and we don’t have to think about them anymore. That’s the beauty of juries - those wonderful people who take on the responsibility of dealing with punishing criminals - we can leave it to them. Our job is to get them empowered.

The President is empowered MERELY to “take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed “. He doesn’t get to MAKE the laws. He doesn’t get to INTERPRET the laws. He doesn’t get to enforce some and ignore others. He doesn’t get to assert that some are unconstitutional and unilaterally violate them.

Republicans feel that having won a presidential election that they have gained power over citizenship. But that is not a presidential power; citizenship is automatic BY CONSTITUTIONAL DESIGN. The rules are simple. If they want it changed, they need to amend the Constitution. PERIOD.

Of course I want impeachment. In the horrible immunity decision, the Supreme Court made it clear that impeachment completely dissolves all presidential immunity. I want impeachment for EVERYBODY- continuous and nonstop.

Congress can impeach and remove Supreme Court Justices for whatever reasons they want. They vote (with a supermajority) and it’s done - no debate, no appeal, no constitutional amendment - DONE. We pick a Congress in November. Choose wisely. We deserve a Court that enables a more perfect country.

Yet again, SCOTUS says Congress may not pass laws which constrain the President, EVEN WHEN THEY ARE SIGNED BY A PRESIDENT. It’s time for Congress to impeach and remove Justices without justification in law, just because THEY can - Plenary authority and all that.

Jen Rubin of The Contrarian is correct but too mild; she should ditch the future tense. She writes, “If Republicans defend his indefensible conduct, … they will take on full responsibility for the wreckage… from sheltering an unhinged, unwell president.” Since they defend, they bear responsibility.

"[t]he President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States." The next Congress needs terminate the President’s “service“ and appoint a new CiC until they next declare war.

It used to be that incumbent politicians were seen as almost impossible to beat because their seniority gave them disproportionate power. The ouster of Cassidy and Cornyn shows how little Republicans care about Congress as a legislative body. Their votes against impeachment alone are paramount.

Is the press incapable of asking Republican office holders how they justify Trump’s “Settlement Fund”??? Senators and Congressmen should be constantly running away from reporters with microphones. If the parties were switched, would ANY Democratic politician escape unquestioned???

So, Trump has exacted revenge against establishment Republicans (Massie, Cassidy, some Indiana state senators, maybe Cornyn) probably preventing a revolt within the Republican Party. Some mourn the downfall of potential allies. Not I. There are no good Republicans, and they weren’t good allies.

The Jan 6th “Settlement Fund” is clearly a case of bribery and thus explicitly an impeachable offense, as in “Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors “. Impeachment would void Presidential immunity as well, just sayin’.

I think I missed a Roberts Court’s ruling that archaic words in the constitution that most Americans can’t define (like emoluments) don’t apply to Republican presidents. I think it said that when MAGA voters had major questions about a word, it could just be skipped.
