It's happening again (already an issue in the #urban #heat literature: arxiv.org/abs/2509.16568). #DataCenters can definitely create #heatislands, but using #satellite data would significantly overestimate the public health implications of it. Also, can we not have news articles on #preprints?

The position will be working on studies related to calibrating and testing field sensors - primarily on studies related to monitoring Monarch butterfly movement, and measuring heat in urban areas.

It was a fun milestone month for me, so much so that I made a BlueSky account to share the news! 3 papers out, spanning monarchs, commuter heat exposure, and urban vegetation cooling under climate change. Feels like a nice snapshot of the different directions my research has been growing.
