Feels like for the past 20 years we took software for granted. It was not perfect, but windows updates did not brick your pc and notepad did not require a license. Google search just worked. Facebook was not yet evil. Not sure what the lesson is here though. Why does this keep happening?

If you think about AI prompting as putting some x amount of information (entropy) in, then code generation is simply coloring in the skeleton with some defaults. You can't get a well behaved app that is 10000 bits of precisely tuned parts by just inputting 100.
