A disturbance is forecast to move in our direction. If it doesn't fall apart, it could bring us around 1" of rain thru Friday. Higher in SW Florida.

A disturbance should approach South Florida over the next 2 days. Rain chances to remain near seasonal values and then decline after the passage of the disturbance.

Colorado State University updated its Hurricane Forecast for this season. They continue to trend down their projections. El Niño & unfavorable atmospheric conditions, should help keep the Basin in check. But remember it only takes one. Stay alert.

Miami has tied its record for most consecutive days with 90° temps, with 56 days. The old stretch was from 2023.

In the month of August, Tropical Activity tends to ramp up. Most of the storms develop in the orange and red areas. Over the last 100 years, over 70 systems developed just east of the Lesser Antilles. This year with El Niño, activity should remain low.

Looking ahead: The Perseids meteor Shower will peak August 12th-13th. As always, for best viewing get away from city lights.

24 Hour Rain Totals ending 9:30 pm Monday

As of 8 pm Monday, a strong storm is offshore - Oceanside along the Lower Florida Keys. It has gusty winds and plenty of lightning along with the potential for small hail. The cell is moving W at 6 mph.

As of 6:25 pm, a big downpour is impacting Key Largo and Florida Bay with gusty winds and Lightning. It will stay over the area for another 20 minutes.

Heavy rain Monday afternoon was accompanied with some strong gusts.

Since midnight, Mainland South Florida has accumulated anywhere between 1" to over 3 inches of rain. NWS issued some Street Flood Advisories, but have since been canceled. More showers are in the makings before sunset.

A round of Severe storms was accompanied with strong gusty winds. Liberty City clocked in at 48 mph.

This is the latest on the big downpour impacting Downtown Miami. Small hail is possible, heavy rain and gusty winds to 60 mph are possible.

Typical high is 91°. Friday may see a record again, still hot on Saturday but temps gradually coming back down to average by Thursday.

As forecast on Thursday... Miami & Ft. Lauderdale set new record highs for this date. The previous all time highs were from 2015 & 2010 respectively.

Heat Index readings once again in the triple digits this Thursday. Unfortunately this oppressive heat will remain thru the weekend.

In record heat territory again on Friday for Miami & Ft. Lauderdale. Temps slowly come back down to near typical by next week.
