the never-once-humble self-insert.

fullbody drawing of my character, outliving the sparrow, based on yours truly. outliving the sparrow is one of my abstract beast humanoids although it takes on a more closely human-like form. this is for plot reasons and not aesthetics, perhaps i can explain these creatures sometime. it embodies the psychological concept of burden. it appears as a brown man with a nice overgrown curly mane that has some grey hairs visible, droopy hooded eyes, soft - as opposed to angular - straight nose, some stubble, fit build although it's hard to tell under all the clothes. it's wearing these items in an all-black outfit: a circlet and face veil, collared shirt layered under a loose-fitting tee, distressed arm veils layered over standalone fitted sleeves, huge pants layered under a lovely long skirt partially patterned with a row of lace flowers, chains for the pants, pair of combat boots embezzled with - you guessed it - more chains. some of the chains on the outfit have spikes dangling off them randomly. basically the only parts of its body that are wholly visible are the forehead, eyes, fingertips. the humanoid is sitting with one leg over the other - but not all the way set down - and an arm resting on the raised leg holding up its chin. it looks off to somewhere, definitely not at you. solid blue backdrop with a column of simple graphical eyes and sparks to the right edge of the canvas and a cluster of nonsensical lines between that column and the beast's stature. i could alternatively title this piece a self-portrait and everyone who knows me would accept it as such, no questions asked.

rough half-body sketch of my player character in dragon age: inquisition. of course, he's a qunari - big grey hunk with domesticated mammal features. a set of horns erect to the same direction as the back of his head, roughened skin on the forehead around his horns, notable bulging on the forehead, big eyes, flat nose ending at a goat snout for its tip, long hair tied in a low-hanging bun, some beard. wears a coat with hooked clasps for buttons, scarf under. focused scowl, crossed arms. ominous green magic flows around behind him. he's illuminated by its hard light, well as some atmospherical lighting in a complementary violet.

rajab is good to beasts, they see a friend in him.

simple mini-form sketch of fool in spotlight sympathising with a cranky rajab. the two are my characters. fool in spotlight is a dark pink humanoid, hair worn in twists, one visible eye, tall and slim, big down-pointed stars all over. it's wearing a big furcoat, wide-end jeans, heelys. it's sat down next to rajab, we see it further from the camera. has a hand on his shoulder in a gesture of consolation. it says, in a text bubble, "that interview went bad. you must be wondering if you're even eligible.". rajab is a black man, straight hair middle-parted, neutral build. he wears a baggy black tee, distressed jeans, loafers, multiple rows of bracelets on both wrists. he's sat next to fool in spotlight, slumped onto his knees holding a cigarette with one hand and the other held up to his head. he responds to fool in spotlight "be nice or leave...". rough grey panel behind the two makes for a backdrop.

it's gay now.

fullbody drawing of my character, fool in spotlight. fool in spotlight is an "abstract beast"; a near-humanoid who'll never be perceived as an equal by a human. to the humans' dismay, it looks better than most. it's dark pink with sparkly blurple accents. hair in twists, big down-pointed stars plastered all over in two columns and a glinting eye peeking from behind the one on its face, slim build and significantly taller than a human. since fool in spotlight is anxiety envisioned, it's meant to stick out like a sore thumb. and look fabulous doing it, apparently, as it wears a big crop-jacket patterned thoroughly with four-pointed stars, booty shorts with chains, and - may world save us all - heelys. the movement in its clothes suggests it's pacing forwards. it's arching its back and has its hands up to the mouth as one may do to gasp dramatically. backdrop mostly left plain but scarsely filled in with blocks of black.

relearning colour usage.

experimental sketch of my character ophélie, anthropomorphic animal between a rabbit and a labrador. dark blue fur, prominent feathery crust around his eyes, majestic long beard that defies physics to look cooler + moustache, gold necklace and cuffs, part of necklace is coloured glass, fur and beard covered in sweet pea flowers, bulky and muscled build. his weapon of choice is an oversized arrow substituted for a spear; he leaps, hunched, to strike. jagged linework behind his stature emphasise the tension on an otherwise plain white backdrop. the artist is aware ophélie is a ladies' name.
