For those who pointed out that the Amazon listings for the Nathan Sutherland series were all over the shop ("Venetian Candidate" was listed as book 13 in an - at present - 9 book series, for example) - I think we've sorted it now! Thanks for letting me know!! Let me know it it's still wrong!

I might be wrong here but I think this means the (film) actor most dubbed into Welsh is...Peter Cushing! www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...
Star Wars dubbed into Welsh for first time for S4C broadcast
Rhys Ifans, Matthew Rhys, Aimee-Ffion Edwards and Mark Lewis Jones among actors voicing characters from 1977 blockbuster

A great piece on Venice Noir. But if I'd known I was going to be in it I'd have had a better haircut.
For those of you in the UK....there's a cracking offer this month with the ebook of "The Venetian Candidate" at just 99p for the whole of August! There's a bit of history, a new enemy is introduced, Nathan goes ice-skating and...just what lies within The Visconti Box?
Just catching up on the Prog Rock Prom. Not all of it works but much of it does and some of it - Crimson, Oldfield, Gentle Giant - is fantastic. Give it a watch. For those who gave Jane Weaver a hard time - Annie Haslam and Justin Hayward are nearly 80 and are not going to sound like they once did.

Convention holds that the 90s were the start of Dario Argento's decline. It did bring us "Trauma" and "The Stendhal Syndrome". However it also brought us "The Phantom of the Opera". Still, more hits than misses in my opinion....but will @filmutopiapod.bsky.social agree?

What has happened to Lampeter is so terribly sad.
Conti's Cafe, Lampeter. 1933-2026. More or less as it was when I was there. This photo's from 2008 but before it was renovated, so it's pretty much as I remember it. Home to a jukebox with a ferociously warped copy of Taja Sevelle's Love Is Contagious & vendor of the best coffee in West Wales. -
#NowPlaying "Ellington in Order, volume 8". It's been an absolute pleasure working my way through this series. You just start playing in the secure knowledge that pretty much everything for the next 2.5 hours is going to be brilliant. Sadly, having only reached 1937, it seems to be on hiatus now.
From when football was better. RIP Franco. I was gutted when he missed that penalty in the 94 WC final; especially given that he hadn't put a foot wrong in the previous 120 minutes.

UEFA are by no means an admirable organisation, but they're the lesser of two evils here. FIFA needs them more than UEFA needs FIFA.

Requiescat in Pace, Mary de Rachewiltz who once mistook me for a priest (I think it was the long black coat and polo neck that did it) and who I had the great privilege to hear reciting her father's poetry by his graveside on a rainy day at San Michele Cemetery.

@jmcobleyauthor.bsky.social 's "Wake Up in Music" arrived in Venice yesterday. On the surface it's a novel about growing up with Marillion but there's so much more to it than that. It's a lovely book full of all the things that are wonderful and horrible about being a kid.
Look at this symphony of colours at Al Profeta!
RIP Tom Chadbon. And thanks for "the most important punch in history", without which none of us would be here....
