It's a shame it's looking like @andyburnham.bsky.social decided to just do things pretty much the same as Starmer but with a Northern accent. I was hoping it'd be a bit different.
Pseudo-Philosophy = Scientists making crude philosophical claims about consciousness/free will with no knowledge of: (i) nuanced distinctions between different views (ii) arguments developed over decades in academic literature (iii) conceptual tools for evaluating them properly
Ásgeir Berg@asgeirberg.bsky.social · 3w agoMaybe there's a reason the word "pseudo-philosophy" isn't bandied about much.
So it's just about how we define words now. I'm a 'physicalist' if we define that terms as broadly as Galen Strawson does. But the 'physicalism' I think we can rule out is that one that says fundamental reality can be completely captured in the terms of physical science.
