Two insects on my flowers. Very different work rates. The bee was so busy it was hard to capture whereas the fly was very casual. I wonder if it’s the general case that eusocial organisms work harder and lose their reproductive autonomy.

We eat a lot of bananas, in the last year I’ve noticed that Dole in NZ bananas taste musty. Maybe I’m particularly sensitive to must tastes but Dole bananas smell really bad. Sometimes other brands but always Dole. Next time yr in a supermarket try smelling the bananas.

Let me suggest something you might call a reverse lobby. The government rewards CEOs for acting against shareholders interests, just like lobbyists reward politicians for acting against the public’s interests.

It’s taken two days and a complete reinstall to get open foam to install. Ahh Linux I don’t use it enough to get competent but enough to make an awful mess

Sometimes it simple treatment can transform an image. The one on the left is the raw data on the right a plot of randomness of the same data, white being more random.

Quick redesign of my next boat. Might buy an old optimist and use the foils and sail. Designed for 25 knot easterly at snells beach at high tide. Getting better at freecad. Attaching labels seems at bit ropey still.

At the end of summer I threw some NZ flax seeds into my vege garden to see if anything would happen. So far 5 seedlings have popped up so I ragweed them to pots. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a flax seedling before so I was quite surprised they germinated.

Redesign number? The main hull for the Waka. Struggling to get the below waterline displacement right and shift the COB back far enough to out the rearward so the bow can be fine. A big fat transom would solve the problem but I need to keep the stern narrow. So it look like I need a big bulge.

There must be a deficit between the fractal dimension of the surface that things live on and the fractal dimension of the transport system they use. Trees and birds? Flight has a very high dimension trees must be a pain to traverse so flight must be pretty useful.

Question for the AI buffs. Apparently it quite hard to generate high resolution images. I was wondering if the resolution is limited by the resolution of the training data. Am I even close? #AI

So I have a water tank plus mains supply and it looks like a El Niño dry summer. So do I use the tank to save mains water or switch to mains to preserve my tank water till we get a drought and save my garden. I have about 3 weeks of water once the rain stops.
