Co-Chair SABR Landmarks Committee. Triple peanuts. Vintage electronic baseball games. Chicago SABR. Go Cubs. Go Hawks. Amon Amarth. Hack Wilson. Baseball.

Doing a little sorting tonight (decided to include the autographed cards with the team sets, instead of separately). Struck by this fun cross-section of the last 40 or so years of Cubs baseball.

When work has you in Joliet on a beautiful morning—of course you stop by to check out the new and improved Jesse Barfield statue.

Rich Kee shared the passing of Fred Claire last night. I asked Fred in ‘21 if he’d help judge the Josh Gibson card art contest. Super easy to tell an internet rando no. Instead shared how grateful he’d be to honor a man his friend Campy spoke so highly of. Kindness thru and thru. A great soul. RIP.

The first Saturday without Cubs baseball for a while is a melancholy occasion. But I sure had some fun along the way with family and friends. Plus, I had the once-in-a-lifetime chance to operate the scoreboard during a game. Don’t be sad it’s over, be happy for the memories made.

On this date in 1997, Ryne Sandberg appeared in his final game as a Cub at Wrigley Field. (This is one of my favorite pictures that I have ever taken.)

Work had me near Litchfield, IL today so I stopped by the Ray Schalk baseball fields. As most baseball fans know, Schalk is probably best remembered as a coach for the Chicago Cubs.

Ever since I was a little kid, I wanted to get inside Wrigley Field's iconic manual scoreboard. Today that happened. Susan managed to pull off the best (early) birthday gift ever. And how she managed to keep this a secret for months, I'll never know. ⚾️

Added a sweet, new (autographed) Nancy Faust to the collection, but I can’t find any more info about this issue. It has a blank back - anyone able to help?
