LaSalle Street station desperately needs multiple vending machine providers. Theres no reason why the hot dog stand thats never open has a machine selling 500ml sodas for $3.75 and 0 other options. Theres even space where the TVMs used to be!!
The MP36 is a beautiful horse that wants nothing more than to kill itself
Oops forgot to update the chart! ORD is at just over 80% of ATL's traffic currently. We did that barely in october and then dropped back below for december. The growth really is strong despite everything going on.
ORD growth continues. While DEN is growing again, it isn't growing as fast as ORD. DFW and ATL continue to shrink, but ATL barely at this point (-.27% YoY). I'm locking in my prediction for ORD to be 2nd busiest passenger wise this year and 1st within 5, especially with concourse D.

At least per the RTA/NITA signage guidelines, the Metra UP-NW and CTA Yellow line have the same exact color. While I'm unaware of any sign possibly existing, if there were one that had both lines on it, they'd look exactly the same.
someone needs to install one of those live streaming cameras pointed at the Richards Street bridge in Joliet. a few hours ago there was a bridge strike, and I just witnessed a very close call leaving work. it feels like a truck hits that bridge once a month
Anyone here know someone from the CTA in charge of Ventra or whatever? Someone was (rightfully) making a big stink on reddit because apparently the ventra app can't be downloaded by foreign tourists due to it being region locked.
They posted an alert saying "check metra.com" (there is no schedule posted) but looking at the trip planner it appears 634, 518, 515, and 517 are cancelled on the 21st, which IMO could be something just put in the alert
I dont see anything posted online but theres signs at lasalle street stating full shutdown on the rock island august 22nd and 23rd. I genuinely have no clue what is going on as well. Maybe we'll hear something during the board meeting? My guess is that 16th street is involved.
Did he get carded for a drink and assume the ID check was for the fucking pasta?
Scalise: "For God's sake -- you can't get pasta at Olive Garden without a picture ID! Why not be able to show a picture ID to vote?"

Ok yeah that previous post must be OLD. This video we know what shot on july 1st and, looking at the car shapes + windows these are the extension cars that will bring the sets to 4 cars a piece. We can also make out some parts of the livery, which I might FOIA. www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpN_...
No clue when it was filmed (presumably a few weeks/months back) but here's a metra flirt frame being welded at stadler's factory youtu.be/ifqhGsOA7RM?...

Earlier during the world cup there were quite a few non Americans making fun of american football for only having like 30 minutes of actual gameplay. But shit ill take my 30 minutes where multiple goals per team usually happen
Ok turns out its the first of three bridge lifts at 79th street as part of EW2. One of those things where the best service they'd be able to run is stuff up to gresham and then maybe bus shuttles from there over to the red line.

Its very interesting to me that (seemingly) one could walk into a transit agency back in the day and get hired the next. Meanwhile, most transit agencies these days take forever to respond, and some (NYC) require you to pay to take a pre employment exam. www.youtube.com/watch?v=64Mu...

I was helping my friend shop for laptops and...wow. Thinkpad P14 with 16GB ram and 512GB ssd for $1.5k and thats WITH my employer's discount program. I bought the same model laptop (gen 5 vs gen 6, 32GB ram, 1TB ssd) for... $949. If they wanted one with the same specs, itd be ~$2k. Jesus christ.

Chicken Salad Chick is blowing up on social media right now and to my surprise, they have locations in chicagoland, but they're all such a paid to get to I don't think I'm going to one unless I have nothing better to do. That being said I have seen some recipes that are apparently accurate 👀
B-b-but I was told by reliable sources that Project 2025 wasn’t a threat to public transit!! (pedestrianobservations.com/2024/07/17/p...) I’ve been lied to, bamboozled, and swindled, it’s terrible!
The US House is considering a transportation bill that would cut transit funding massively. We estimate that it would cut transit funds by 23% compared to the current infrastructure law. Every state would lose millions of dollars in transit formula funding. Details: www.urban.org/urban-wire/h...
