Sometimes heroism appears from the most unexpected quarters and makes for the most unexpected bonds, as thick as blood, between the most unlikely groups. Most Jewish people in Britain would not in a million years have anticipated that their man of the moment - and actually, man of the decade - would be the queer, pro-trans, Bowie-inspired pop star George Alan O'Dowd, known as Boy George.
Yet in our darkest hour, it is the name of Boy George which, like a talisman, starts so many of our conversations. We are so deeply sickened by the hellfire of lethal lies about the Jewish state - a hellfire seemingly being encouraged by a Prime Minister whose first major foreign policy statement in office was to vow to put more pressure on the Israeli government - that we are literally gasping for a friend.
By this, we mean someone who, against all the odds, gets it, and gets the depth of the insult and danger to Jews of all those lies. Who intuits the parallels with previous pogroms. Someone who, despite overwhelming pressure to believe the libels and the vicious falsehoods and false narratives about Israel (genocide, famine, IDF zest for slaughtering children and hospital patients, raping prisoners with dogs, settler-colonialism, apartheid), who, despite the profound moral sickness of almost every single one of his industry and...

I like that they still publish timetables and arrival info for buses in the south west. These contain no information about the actual behaviour of the buses, but civic ritual is maintained.
