Nya is the one that starts off more scrappy. Kai is around 2 and a half years older, so Nya is only 15. And I made his scar a burn mark from his early attempts at black smithing.
They start off older then they insinuate in the show. Kai is 17, not a great blacksmith but good enough to put food on the table. He's less moody at the start, but still a cocky dumb ass that plays off his distress with humor.
These two were probably responsible for someone's unusual bisexual awakening.
