My very short visit to Chicago included popping over to the Sourcebooks office. It was so much fun to meet the teams in person and to leave my little note on the wall. - Piper’s Travel Memories

In the fall, we like to go glamping in a tiny cabin with private bathroom, full tiny kitchen, heating and A/C. I do writing sprints at the picnic table, enjoying the feel of the PNW woods all around me and Corbin hopes for campfire cooking tasty treats. - Piper’s Travel Memories

Wat Ban Den is Chiang Mai's Blue Temple, a visually stunning blend of traditional Lanna craftsmanship & intricate modern styles. I liked to sit quietly & not only take in the visual beauty but also listen to the soundscape. This temple's wind chimes were accompanied by the soft calls of doves .

Visiting Wat Phra That Doi Suthep was a challenge: multiple sets of stairs to reach even the base of the temple entrance where a pair of phaya nak guard the main stairway and extend all the way up to the temple. I waited at the bottom while Hubby Matthew climbed to the top. Piper’s Travel Memories

Visiting Kyoto, Japan with my little sister and Hubby Matthew gave us chances to share good food and go for walks like this one along the river after an amazing dinner. We could still see lightning in the huge storm clouds as they retreated at sunset. - Piper's Travel Memories

My little sister met me in Japan not too long ago to make memories. I was able to walk with her through the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove in Kyoto with the help of a Hypershell exoskeleton. Both the visual beauty of this natural bamboo forest and the soundscape were breathtaking. -Piper’s Travel Memories

We ate so much food while we were visiting Chiang Mai, Thailand. I loved the combination of ground pork and preserved fermented vegetables in this flaky pastry. It was probably my favorite bite of the morning at this Friday Market. - Piper’s Travel Memories

Copenhagen has always been a peaceful city when I've visited, whether for writing or for life sciences. In this moment, I was on a life sciences business trip, but also had edits to turn in - so I was both and very happy with what I accomplished for both careers that trip. Piper’s Travel Memories

I’m not sure pictures can do justice to how amazing it was to walk through tombs in Egypt, but they help bring back the feelings of wonder and fascination. It’s no surprise I incorporated elements of the Egyptian myth and magic into FANGS SO BRIGHT AND DEADLY? - Piper’s Travel Memories

It took 3 visits to Copenhagen before I got to visit the Little Mermaid statue. The 1st time, the statue was on loan for the World's Fair that year. The 2nd time, I didn't have time to leave the ship. The 3rd time time, I finally got my visit. <3 - Piper’s Travel Memories

I’m lucky to have friends who capture memories like album covers for a band that only existed in fantasy. Traveling in Egypt with fellow authors K Tempest Bradford and Alethea Kontis was a trip of a lifetime and will inspire elements in my books for decades. - Piper’s Travel Memories

Chemo 2nd Line|Cycle 6|Day 1: All those tasty foodie adventures recently and you know what almost took me out? Tried a new brand of protein powder yesterday and required an epi pen, a visit to the ER, and overnight observation to make sure I survived the experience.

Headshot of Piper, mostly bald due to chemo related hair loss and lifting what’s left of her eyebrows in a surprised look with mouth open in the shape of an O - dressed in a green hospital top.

Quite possibly my favorite meal whenever I travel to Germany is Schnitzel, though my favorite take on schnitzel is Jägerschnitzel served with Spätzle noodles - which is more of an Austrian iteration on this tasty meal. - Piper’s Travel Memories
