comic that starts with small mike (battat visible inside) exclaiming, "then WHY do you KEEP DOING this, Tenna?! You're making my life HARDER and HARDER, every day! So WHY! Why must you do this???"" to a Tenna who is crouched slightly in front of him.

"I..." Tenna starts. He begins to shrink. "I.... I don.." he trails off and covers his face.

"I... c'mon bud, I can't hear ya if you're mumblin' like that!" Small Mike tells him. "So... Answer me! The MIKE'S all yours!"

Beginning to panic, Tenna exclaims, "I- I don't know! I don't know WHY I do these things!"

Tenna clutches his head. "I don't even know what I'm doing WRONG! No one even TELLS me ANYTHING!!" he cries. "It's-It's like they all want me to keep failing! It's like nobody wants me to KNOW!!"

Tears fall from Tenna's screen. "I don't know why I'm... Like this."

Battat looks at him with a pitying expression through the Mike Costume.

Tenna has shrunk down very small. "I don't know why I'm so difficult. I'm... sorry."

Small Mike reaches his hand down to him and picks him up. Close to Mike's head, Tenna looks up at his face, Battat's frown just barely reflecting in his screen.

Battat's expression softens through the Mike Suit. "...Alright. Fine. We can... leave all that for another day. Sound good?" Small Mike asks Tenna, who is curling up against his chest within his arms. Tenna hesitates.

"You're- You're still not...!!" Tenna tries to assert, before hesitating again, curling into his chest further, looking upset. "...Fine. Yea. Let's just drop it."

late night tennaposting this time its about why tenna feels so significant within #deltarune and his connections to it as a Narrative :) now whys mr tenna driving the bus.

ive been wracking my head since 3+4 came out about just what the fuck the mantle game is meant to represent in the lightworld just because theres no real clear cut answer to be found and i doubt there ever will be one. but just recently today pondered about the possibility of the mantle game just straight up being a part of tenna; it's part of tv world after all. and tv world.... is him.

and even just beyond him being the tv, he's also just as much a representation of the Old State of the dreemurr house. as much as he's just the tv he was also the living room. he wasn't just an object or a toy like many other darkners are but *furniture* within the room. he's a set piece. tv world wouldn't be tv world without him. he's more than just an object, he's a scene, a setting. he's the Stage itself. he's a moment captured in time that can't be recaptured. He's a collection of facades hiding a deep, miserable, dusty underbelly. he's the state of a house that had a lot, a lot of hurt within it buried under deep layers of repression and guilt.

i think this is maybe where a lot of his undertale-isms lie as well. there are references to the dreemurr house dark world once resembling undertale. why he stands before you at the end of his section like toriel does in undertale, preventing you from moving forward. why he carries so many motifs of nostalgia with him; why he's one of the oldest parts of this game dating back to 2016 or so. there's even the connection to undertale being a Prototype for deltarune, built upon the ideas undertale set before it. much in the way mantle and the dusty cliffs before tv world were built on top of. as if Mantle is an old state of the world to be built upon and changed.

He mentions regretting building Legend of Tenna on top of Mantle. that it should be something hidden and repressed away. He prevents you from trying to see the bits and pieces of it still visible within his version of the game unless he's out of view. and he's the one NPC standing in your way when you go to complete the route. i only just realized recently that he's the Only darkner NPC (besides ralsei as an empty player character npc) to appear within the route other than the little generic monster enemies. He has a *hiding* place in there. He stands directly in the way of you finishing the route; you have to kill him to move forward. the route that is the in-universe hint towards the completion of weird route.

im not entirely sure where i was going with this i mostly just thought it was interesting to discuss. he's everywhere in this game even when he's not. i think this thought (that tenna is literally part of this story, part of the structure itself as a device) is possibly Why where tenna ends up (castletown vs mettaton vs #dead) gets so hotly discussed for example. he's a moving part of the machine itself. i also find it (gaster voice) very very interesting. that deltarune itself is in 3/4 ratio much like a crt is. now why is Mr Tenna driving the bus.

also possible gaster(? or whatever. man) + tenna parallels with building a world on top of another. and what that means for a being that is part of the device they're building it within

its a cycle of creation and iteration and building on top of what was there before.

idk how much of this is clear bc im very tired. i dont mind clarifying or grabbing screenshots or discussing otherwise though

paces. sorry i like tenna a lot everything about him fascinates em forever. i like thinking about why hes so like. important feeling within his world other than being my special princess. which he is. but hes also genuinely such a well crafted character it makes me feel crazy
