Really impressed to see applied side of #massspec analysis. Just learned about a forensic assay for ~290 drugs with over 800 transitions - all in a 5 minute chromatographic run. Running on Agilent Technologies 6495D triple quad system with an amazing sensitivity. Pretty impressive stuff. #ASMS2025

When I began in analytical chemistry, I explored organic and inorganic compounds as matrices for MALDI imaging of lipids in the negative ion mode. MALDI-MS and MS-based lipidomics were so new that my early presentations fell under OTHER → other. Things have changed a lot since then.

NEW: NSF confirmed that they fired 168 employees today, out of their staff of ~1,500 feds. This includes some people who'd finished their 1-year probationary periods, which were extended to 2-years last month without explanation. More to come.

So, *very* unconfirmed, but I've heard from inside a fed agency that there is a chance a significant chunk of gov websites, in particular healthcare and energy-related ones, might just go dark today at 5 pm because it's impossible to scrub the DEI stuff by then.

OK, we've seen it before—use glucuronidase & sulfatase, hydrolyze conjugates, release parent chemical (or phase I met) & measure that.
